Quick question, what type of gasket sealer is being used if any?
If you want to use a gasket sealer I recommend Permatex Red, High temp RTV.

Thanks, if your fixes are holding up without sealer then I'll probably do the same as well.

amp77, thanks for sharing this info. I have noticed a very small leak for about two weeks now and found the quick connect to be the problem this evening. I have ordered the parts from Pegasus and fortunately they now have black in stock again.

no rust on the steering components but they are wet, any suggestions on cleaning/protecting those metal parts?

thanks in advance

Just an update.
I cut out the the disconnect portion of the waterline and replaced it with the new elbow last weekend and this immediately fixed the water leak at the tank fitting.

The bad news; the junction where the old and new lines meet leaked twice as much as the tank did before. I had only ordered a single hose clamp for each side joint and that just wasn't enough. Doubling clamps on the junction fixed the issue.

Thanks to all for the great info to fix this problem!

If I were to to it again I would have ordered four small clamps rather than two and used sealer on the junction pipe. Oddly enough I couldn't get protected hose clamps locally so I moved the two protected clamps to the silicone hose and two regular clamps on the other side.

I developed this leak about a week ago on my 2012 F150 Eco. I was noticed coolant on the driveway and it took me a few days to figure out it where it was coming from. After seeing the cost that everyone was quoting from the dealer and the fix from amp77 I decided to give it a go myself. I ordered the parts from Pegasus today and will do the repair this weekend.

I have one question though. How did you clamp off the hose to keep from loosing coolant from the radiator?

I used two blocks of wood and a clamp. I assume some people are draining the whole system but I was working outside while it was below freezing so I just wanted it done quickly!

I drained the whole system. The maintenance schedule calls for new coolant at 100,000 miles and I was at 75,000, so I just went ahead and flushed the system and replaced with new coolant while I was replacing parts.

I replaced the factory elbow with the parts from Pegasus that amp77 provided. It took me about 1 1/2 start to finish. The biggest issue I had was cutting the hose the right length and positioning the clamps so they do not rub on anything else. So far so good!!!

Thanks amp77 for providing this fix!
