2011 5.0 knock and check engine light
#12
Update: got the truck back today, with the new shorthblock. Seems to be running good so far. The dealer lent me a rav 4 at no cost. The dealer was easy to deal with through the process. Funny thing is that they were surprised how nice and understanding I was through the several week ordeal (right after I bought the truck). I said "treat people the way you want to be treated and life goes a lot easier". Good karma is always good to have in the bank!

ha! was it your truck??!
Here's what happened...
Guy has a 2011 5.0 for a few years and it develops a knock. There were some early builds that had issues. Not a lot, but some are showing up now. The knock slowly gets worse, so the guy either tries to get it fixed unsuccessfully, or decides not to mess with it and dumps it with only 2k miles to go on his warranty. He adds some thick oil to it and trades it in. Dealer does normal service before selling it, including oil change. Along comes 191145 and buys it. [insert post #1 above here]
I'd say you have a good dealer. You'll find many posts on here of guys who had engine swaps and have no more issues.
