Damn....I added my K&N Air Filter from the 09 I had and love the increased throaty sound. Friends comment on it and say they love it too. OP should have gotten a 3.7 then....

I plan to mod mine to do that. My 4.0 SOHC Explorer sounded bad @$$ when I modded it

That noise you heard out of your SOHC engine was the chain tensioner rattling...Haha...Joking...sorry I couldn't resist...I've replaced way to many of those on the SOHC 4.0's.

I almost didn't get my Magnaflow cat back dual exhaust because the stock "throaty noise". Glad I did tho - sounds better then ever!
