So the truck went into service last week to diagnose the squeal. As expected, they have never heard the noise before. The mechanic never heard it, so I took the manager for a ride, and he heard it, then drove it, and REALLY noticed it. They did manage to break the, what i believe is the MAF sensor wire clip. That pissed me off, but theyre fixing it next week. The truck goes back to spend some more time troubleshooting, along with the help of the "Ford Engineers". So, I guess we will see how things turn up next week. Intake squeal, bad bearing? No idea.

Could be the belt. Could you get me a picture of the part number and manufacturing numbers (right next to each other). I work for Gates and can look to see if there were any problems with a certain run of belts.

Seems very possible it could be a belt. I hope its something simple like that. Yes, Ill get the part numbers from the truck. Any help is appreciated, Thanks!

The noise is more than likely coming from air flowing past the partially open butterfly valve in the throttle body. My 2011 5.0 does it and my 06 GTO did it also. Under a harder acceleration you probably won't hear it.

Yes the butterfly valve was also a thought. It does go silent during harder acceleration, or very little acceleration. Its only squealing right about 1800 to 2100 rpm with a load on the engine, but if you push it harder, it immediately stops. It is back at the dealer now.

update...the dealer gave the truck back on Friday. They said they have no idea what it is, they did everything Ford said to do. Rediculous! So, its going up town to the dealer that I bought it from. I will add here that today while driving, I heard a ticking noise coming from the engine for a few minutes. Upon looking around, I noticed that the belt driving the AC, was cut in two pieces! Hopefully this is the problem, Ray Skillman Ford said specifically they checked that. They must not have checked it too good. I think the the ticking was part of the belt hitting something with every turn. Ill post a new thread for the belt issue.

Any update on this noise? My 2011 5.0 does the exact same thing. It got much louder when i put in the K&N drop in, which leads me to believe its the throttle blade. I'm getting rid of the filter, but want that noise gone...

Update--- My truck was at the dealer for 2 days. They did extensive testing and swapping of parts off another brand new truck. Turns out the new one did it louder then mine. They agree it sounds like a vacuum squeal. Or, they think it could be the air hissing over the throttle plate. They then drove it around with the laptop connected to it. They submitted all the information from the engine to the Ford engine plant engineers. They responded that the engine was running as designed and its not a safety issue. At the current time they recommended no action be taken. They also said that some intake noise would be common with this engine. I think its a load of crap. The mechanics in the service dept. agree. They said until Ford gets enough complaints, then actually breaks one apart and finds out what is causing it, they wont do anything. He said hes got no idea what exactly it is, nor do they. He assumes it is somewhere in the resonators to "quiet" the airflow, or, inside the intake manifold somewhere. So, I think were stuck with this annoying *** sound until Ford actually takes action.
