No change in mileage. I miss the sound a lot. Huge difference. The intake makes it sound almost like a V8. I'm hoping an AEM filter will get some of that sound back.

I'm thinking it might be running lean with the intake. I may keep it and get a custom tune to make it work.

Anyhow it is the exact same kit as the Eco-boost uses, and if you aren't in a rush, and follow the instructions correctly, installation should take around 30 minutes. It is a pretty simple kit, but the filter is huge, it is generally good quality. All the comments by the Eco-boosters who have installed would apply.

As for the result, WOW. The 3.7 now sounds like a cross between a newer V8 muscle-car, and a Ferrari. A nice sweet, deep growl right from 1500 RPM, with gurgling and such that sounds just perfect. It is definitely not too loud, which was my primary concern when buying. The other concern was that it would cause intake "honk", which I hate. It makes music now at any RPM; and in the higher RPM's it is not much louder, (as the 3.7 howls from 5000-7000), but is a deeper roar. So, to sum up the whole sound aspect, It is the best sounding intake I have ever heard, (and I've modded a lot of vehicles). Not too loud, not too quiet, and always there when I lean on it.

As for the power aspect, I will not dwell on the butt dyno tests, as I relied on an independent dyno test of a similar intake on the 3.7 mustang before I bought, which suggested lower rpm gains around 7%, and upper rpm gains of 4-5%. At lower RPM's it is noticeably more torquey, I find that I can get brisk acceleration under 3K RPM's, where it would shift around 3600 if I was in a mild hurry. So definitely more bottom end. The first time I hammered on it, it did hit the rev limiter, which was odd, as I have never had this truck hit the rev limiter, possibly it was building RPM's quicker. Either way, it happened. At higher RPM's it is pure music, but I will not go so far as to say it added anything above 4K RPM. Definitely no loss of power though.

As for fuel mileage, good luck to anyone who buys one of these and tries to keep their foot out of it.... It is going to do nothing but hurt mileage for me, as I love to hear a healthy engine roar. I would add that this truck gets phenomenal mileage, still indicating 13LH/K after flooring it to redline a dozen times, cruising around town, and bucking a wind on my way home in Canada.

I give this mod a 10 out of 10. Worth every penny, and totally satisfying
hey man when you bought this kit did you have to do any type of tuning for it or is it just bolt on and go cus i was told by a few people that if you buy one and dont tune it it will cause motor problems

Bolt on and go. But I am bumping the rev limiter in first gear semi-regularly, so that may be an unintended consequence.
An excellent upgrade that really transforms the sound of the truck.

I think the sound is the biggest benefit to adding the CAI. I looked at the stock setup, the intake opening is huge. I could put my fist into the fenderwell, there's not much restriction in the factory setup. It looks like they direct air from the front of the truck into the fenderwell also, making it very efficient.

And I think your absolutely right about sound. I realize I am about 5 years late on a response to this thread however, my 3.7 came alive after adding this roush air filter. I started with my exhaust first: a single in dual out magnaflow which sounds really good around town between 10-25 mph and 1-1500 on the tach. Now I have found that for the sound since its a v6 to use the manual mode (select shift) and it sounds really good. The higher end of the rpms with the magnaflow duals is much like a rattle can- until you add this freaking roush filter! The engine bay sounds raspier, the cab drone is acceptable but not overwhelming- again its a six. That being said my next move is to take off the resonator. I purchase my truck new in 2011 and have logged every mile myself. I never liked the engine bay 'daaaaaahaaaaaaaa' sound when I go WOT at 4-6K RPM. This setup changed all that. Exhaust first, intake second now I'm gonna add a tune then resonator delete. Mine is a supercrew and im not really worried about milage, i dont tow anything more than my atv and lawnmower which is why the 3.7 is fine for me. But since its paid for I figured i may as well tinker with it.

A v6 will never sound like an v8. I has a v12 jag, the pulses are completely different!
