Default 13.5 mpg average? 5.0

I have been looking at other reports from guys getting 17+ mpg and I don't understand how that's possible.

I have an '11 platinum 5.0 4x4 short bed. I average about 13.5 mpg of mostly hwy. I think I am running very poorly. I just added a magnaflow cat back. And my best hwy mpg is 17.5mpg. I do not get any better, ever.

Is this normai? This is with cruise and 70 mph. Anything I can do to get better? I have a long why trip (300+ miles) every weekend, and it's starting to worry me there is a problem.

I have searched, and it only makes me more concerned. Thoughts?

Slow down. Get on highway, reset mpg. Set cruise to 55 and drive a few miles. Notice readout. Reset, try 60, then 65, then 70.

Also make sure you have original tires.

I get consistent 18+ MPG from my '11 5.0 4x4 Scab with 3.73 gears. Truck has 63k miles on it.

Lifetime avg. mpg is 18.7

I drive mixed city/hwy.

Something sounds "off" about your truck.

i have noticed in my truck that if you slow down to 65-68 the MPG's jump up a little. The trucks have a sweet spot, you just need to find it. Also if you have bigger tires, it kills the milage 2-3 MPG's

Factory tire size. I have a certified warranty, so I may take it in to get checked out.

I have reset on the highway with cruise set at 70, and I am at 18mpg. I've played with it and keep it on cruise, but I'm still losing on the mpg game.

18 at 70 is about what I see. 55 gets closer to 20 mpg, sometimes 22 depending on terrain and wind.

That's not right. I'm getting 23-24 on the highway and 15 city. Maybe its time for a spark plug change and throttle body cleaning?
