Recd my SCT tuner 7015 today from 3 Stage
Started to read the manual & 1st start instructions....update 1st
DL the Windows based software from SCT & installed
NOTE: I could not find it under the Menu on the SCT site
I found it here: www.sctflash.com/software/SCTDeviceUpdater.exe
---the link was in the SCT manual that I DL to my PC
I then went to plug the Tuner into my PC
Instructions state to plug the cord into the TOP of the device
I'm holding the device w/SCT logo at the top....2 big connections up there
And the cable will not fit either one
I call SCT Tech support...8th in line...as I'm waiting I look thru online PDF instructions some more
I notice a pic of the device & realize I plug the cable into the BOTTOM of the device
BINGO!!....hang up
So, plugged in my PC....expecting to see the Tuner driver install
Nada......tried a USB 3 port...Nada......3rd port...connects, driver installs....fails
Big Yellow exclamation under Device Driver: mine said iTSXDevice
Call SCT Tech support back....8th in line again
That drops to #4 quickly & soon the Tech is online & knows exactly how to fix it
There is a problem w/Win8x driver, I load a remote connection program they use
Read off the login & password info to him & he connects & fixes it in less then a minute I'd say
Good to go, I had already connected the device to my Network via wireless & it updated
But I wanted to make sure I could connect to save my Stock file to the PC & to be able to Upload my custom Tunes once Recd
I went & filled up the truck w/93 Octane since I had .30c off per gallon
Also filled up another 6g gas can
With 87 already in there (1/2 full) I should have about 90 octane
I usually only fill up when I'm near empty, but wanted to use the .30c off before the wife did
I have a 6g gas can of 87 I can use to top her car off
So off to tune the truck.......see you in a few hours of driving
(I'm back)
Started the truck 1st to warm up the engine & cab -its cold here
Shut off the radio, lights, heat -everything then shut the truck off
Plug in the Tuner
Load stock 87 Tune, it backs up the Stock tune
Counts from 0% to 100% 1% at a time....slow -maybe 1 second a %
Then prepares data (stock tune ) quick...10% 20% etc
Then it writes the Tune to the truck
--follow screen directions to turn key off/on as needed
Counts from 0% to 100% 1% at a time....slow -maybe 1 second a %
Clear DTC
Process Data
...then done
I accessed to see my ECU info to have my custom tunes setup
Directions state it can take 5-10 drive cycles to relearn your drive habits
or up to 100+ miles
Took the truck for a drive, noticeable difference in shift/sound acceleration
I've had the truck 9 years, so pretty used to the way it (used) to drive
Starting rush hour here so only about 10 miles since Tuning, 15 miles since the 93 octane went in
Looking forward to trying the custom Tunes once Recd
Only thing I changed on the Stock Tune was the Governor/Speed Limit -raised to 105
I don't think I've ever gone over 85 mph
Might just want to decrease that Limit to 70 mph if my son starts to drive the truck in 8 years

I think I have to go on the sct website as well. Got my x4 from Franchi in 2 days(AWESOME) loaded up the 87 tune since I already filled up the day before and after 20 minutes of driving BAM cel light is on for p0172 and p0175. Loaded back up the stock tune for now till I get some time off to get on a computer. Anyone else run into this?? By the way my truck is an 05 crewcab 5.4.

Recd my custom tunes yesterday, uploaded to the tuner this morning
Same procedure, warmed the truck up a little 1st, shut everything off
Key off, plug in tuner, key on, select the 89 Performance Tune & program
Prepares file -fast, the starts upload -slower then last time for the 1st 30%
Then faster after that
Take the truck for a spin....figures another rainy day here
Much faster from a stop, I always felt the truck hesitated a lot from a stop
Not any more !!! Gets up & goes, very happy with this Tune
I only drove about 10 miles to the mall & back, 45 miles since I 1st tuned the truck
Work is slow so it may take me 2 weeks to go thru a tank of gas
Next fill up will be near empty & 93 octane
Then I'll try the 93 Performance tune
More smiles to the miles & Funability added to the truck
Wish I had bought a tuner right after I bought the truck
Will need to wait for a dry day before I really test it out
*Note: The SCT PC software did another update before I uploaded my custom tunes

Ive read many posts, and I still cant come to a decision. Is getting a tuner worth it for my '14 Ecoboost with no other mods? its literally stock, and probably will stay that way. bigger tires and wheels will be put on when I need to replace them. I would like to stay with 87 or 89 tunes, since I don't want to fill up with 93 every time. Any thoughts?

new to programmers
i was recently given a hypertech max energy power programmer(42501). and i have a 2010 f150 stx and tires are factory, no engine mods, no lift... was wondering if anyone that has had experience with hypertech could help me out with shift points and all the other settings before i go and accidentally mess something up. i know from what i've seen edge is preferred over hypertech but this was a free one so. why not? i'm looking for more of a eco performance set up. any help would be appreciated.
