installed an access vanish cover the other day. I'm having problems with it buffeting in the wind. It seems wind is getting underneath it at the header board of the box. I installed the rubber seal up front as well as tightened the cover. If I tighten it any more I feel like I'm going to break the tensioners. I also notice that the Velcro sides hang over the cover rails a little bit too. What position does the flap from the front of the cover go into? Inside the bed? Over the gasket? Directions did not have a clear picture describing this. This was installed with a ford drop in liner btw, I trimmed it to fit the rails at the headerboard.

The front flap should should be installed pointing toward the rear of the box and going over the Element Seal.

Can you take a picture of the front of the bed/cover to show me how you have it?

Some notes:
  • Install it in warm weather. If your truck is colder than 60 degrees F, the adhesive won't get a good stick.
  • You might spot some snow in the bed that got in. It was 7 degrees out when I shot this, and the gasket shrunk a little, allowing snow in at that spot where the two pieces meet. When it rains, the gasket keeps all the moisture out.

Hey quick update for you on the cover! I just installed the tailgate gaskets and they are working well, however, it's been raining a lot here in GA and there's still water seeping in through the back and some parts of the sides. I've used flex-seal on the back to cover up any leaks but it's still coming through in small amounts. What do you think I should check or do from this point? Thanks again for all your help!

Do you mean it's getting in through the tailgate where it meets the truck body or between the cover and the tailgate?

On the sides, is it getting in through the seal between the cover and the bed rail? or through the stake pockets?

Thanks for the reply, its coming on the sides and the wall of the truck, not the tailgate.

How much is getting in? Can you take some photos of your bed and show me where you think it's getting in?

There's enough to where if i had a sleeping bag or a rung, it would get damp. It's mostly coming on the sides near the tailgate, I have two pictures attached, one of the latch holding the cover against the tailgate rail, and the other of the gasket in-between it seems water is seeking through the gasket imo. I don't know if the latches are on the right way, but they really act up and get loose, I have to tighten them every now and then. Any suggestions on what the problem could be? thanks

How often would you say you have to tighten the clamps?

Also, did you see my earlier comment about making sure the bed liner has proper drain holes so that any moisture that does get in can drain? No tonneau cover is going to make a bed perfectly waterproof because beds truck beds aren't designed like that at the factory. You have to focus on making it as water resistant as you can, but also make it so your bed can get rid of any water that gets in anyway.

Where would the drain holes be on the bed cover? And I've only had to tighten the clamps twice.

Not on the cover. In your bed liner. That looks like a drop-in liner in your bed. Your truck bed has drain holes somewhere toward the front, usually in the corners, for letting rainwater drain. Most drop-in liners lack those holes, so any water that gets in the bed winds up staying there. You need to figure out how to let it drain.
