Default stainless works downpipe beware

I realize that in my last reply, I didn't mention that I'm using the Solo Catted DP with the complete stock exhaust. The truck is just as quiet as be before. Solo was surprised at that when I spoke to them and they did tell me that they never tried it with a stock exhaust either. They told me to expect it to get a little louder. The only change I noticed, was a 'slightly crisper' response in the gas petal. I don't think that there's anyway to truly quantify the change without a dyno. BTW, they cost $750 delivered. Good luck

So far what I have read is that SW is the only DP with stock exhaust having this problem. That sucks for me and the others with the same setup as mine. It needs to be fixed.

I just want to clear up this post. We are not here to take anyone's money and run. We are here to help the community and provide the best product possible. We never guaranteed that there would be no buzz. We do not have the truck in front of us to diagnose that type of issue. It possibly might not be an y-pipe issue. We can't speak for others products.
We can say that through the hundreds of MAK Y-Pipes that we have sold, even to other vendors, we have not had a complaint on any type of buzzing, with the stock exhaust or with an aftermarket exhaust.

Well still no response from SW. Told them I want it fixed or my money back. And also told them they need to redesign the y-pipe section. Cause out of all the y pipes made they r the only ones who have it clamp at the y-pipe to much air and pressure being forced at the point. Fix it or credit my card back. But have been burning MAK up and have them in my sight. YO ADRIAN!!

As MAK said, its really hard to diagnose the problem on a truck that isn't in front of us. We cannot test anything or change anything...we can only guess.

The reason I did not jump into this thread immediately was that I wanted to do my research. I needed to make sure that I knew as much as possible about what was out there before I commented. Yesterday I called a number of SW dealers, and even talked to some private customers. Everyone sort of shrugged and told me their installation and their sound was great. That doesn't help me fix your problem but it does point out that it is very uncommon.

This is a newer product for us and a relatively popular one! It has been out since the beginning of the year and, out of roughly 100 units sold, your issue is the second one we've come across with any sort of long drawn out buzz at wide open throttle. The first truck that had this buzz (which i just learned about this morning), occurred because the Y pipe was installed flat in the truck. As it turns out, that is enough to create some nasty harmonics compared to the proper installation. I have attached a picture of the correct orientation for the Y pipe. Notice it sits at roughly a 45 degree angle. I really hope your Y pipe is not oriented like this one and a simple rotation will fix your issue!

I'm not trying to step on any toes and I'm certainly not trying to tick anybody off. Please keep in mind that there are about 100 downpipes out there that are not buzzing like yours. If that many are OK, then having a strange buzz points to an issue with installation and not with the design of the downpipe itself.

WE WANT TO HELP YOU! There are 42 PM's from you in my inbox right now and probably 30 PM's I've sent back to you answering questions. Through that long conversation, we spoke candidly and honestly. Now there is a thread where you have cut and pasted very specific things without the proper context. That's more than a bit unfair of you. Having gone back and forth with you so many times, I would assume you would know I was here to help.

My y-pipe is at an angle I would guess to say a 45 degree angle. So that is not the problem.
And yes I have been blowing you up cause I am pissed that I spent $700 and I am having this problem I would say you would be also. I Want a fix plz that is it or my money back. And if you all stand behind your product you should do one or the other or redesign the DP and send me a new one and I will send you the old one.
And out of those 100 of downpipes how many are with stock exhaust cause u told me u never tested it with stock.
So what do I do from this point I am waiting on the help. I know for a fact it is installed correctly and everything is tight. So now what Jason. If you want to help me and others with this problem then help instead of throwing the blame that I and others have installed it wrong.

Agreed, many calls to stainless works no resolution... Once they have your money on to the next fool, my friend fixed the shoddy work after I spend mega bucks for what was suppose to be the best, "expensive" lesson learned never use them again!
