Magnaflow and surface rust
Guys and Girls,
It maybe that most aftermarket exhaust companies make their products this way but I am seeing surface rust on a stainless steel exhaust that's 6 months old.
One of the reasons to toss the old muffler and tail pipe was that it was all rusty and corroded......it looked like it was off of the Titanic.
I'm kind of dismayed to see the surface rust forming on the exhaust system so soon. I looked at the warranty and there is a disclaimer about the grade of stainless (the cheaper 400 series stuff over 300 series) being used. It claims that there is no harm done by the rust but then the reason that I sprung for this higher cost metal was to avoid that rusty look. In spring, I guess I'll try and address it with solvents and steel wool to see how it comes off.
For the price of this product, which works and sounds fine by the way, I wish I'd had some advance warning. Not everyone uses 400 series metal in their systems so that isn't a very good defense in my estimation.
Anyone else notice this problem, or is it a non-issue?
