Default Replacing stock muffler

Does anyone know if I could replace my stock 2016 5.0 muffler with a flowmaster muffler or another after market muffler. Don't want to have to buy an entire cat back system. Thanks

I don't know how the stock exhaust is on that year, but when I installed my new exhaust on my '14, the stock exhaust was 1 piece from the muffler back. If yours is the same, that would mean you'd have to make some cuts and weld in the new muffler. Would need to know the inlet/outlet sizes as well I reckon.

Well, I've got a 2013 FX4, and I just recently chopped out my muffler and put a straight pipe in its place... It honestly sounded golden, but my wife's complaining was the loud thing... So, I put a magnaflow muffler in, and the sound is really nice. Not as quiet as stock, and it whoops when you get on the gas.

For the inlets and outlets —*It's 2.5-inch before the muffler, and it's 3-inch after. I just bought a 3-inch muffler, and used a reducer/expander coupler. Worked like money.

A local muffler shop can also help you replace the stock muffler. I recommend Magnaflow or Borla muffler.

I had the Flowmaster 40's with dual pipes installed with the resinators still installed and love the sound when taking off and still sounds great running down the highway with out being load inside the cabin. Search youtube for my video of the Flowmaster 40's dual pipe exhaust system below title.

The resonator is part of your exhaust system, but it is not the muffler. It is sometimes known as a pre-muffler because it is installed in the exhaust system after the catalytic converter and before the muffler. Some cars and trucks have them, others don’t.

Not sure if the new ones have them but know I only swaped out the muffler and added the second pipe.

My 09 SRT8 had them and I had them removed with the same setup and it was loud without them.

And just as a note some states require them.
