Default Rear Diff.

hi everyone,
i got a 97' F250 its got the 10 1/4" rear. its open like to change it to a limited slip or posi. i seen some differentials on jegs just wondering how bad it is to change out or if its something thats gotta be taken somewhere

Unless you have all the necessary tools to tear the differential down, reassemble, and setup properly, it is best left to a shop that does this kind of work on a daily basis.

Its definatly not a beginners job, you have to get the spacing right between the ring and pinion with some dial indicators and some gear wear paint. If you dont you will see increased wear in the gears, and it will probably make a bunch of noise when going down the road, especially when coasting.
