I live in Buffalo. How does this hold up in the snow and ice?

I'm definitely interested. Could you please PM me the forum price?

Thanks.

Thank you for putting a Peragon cover on your Christmas list! I just sent you a PM with the forum member bonus details.

Our production facility is located in far northern Wisconsin. We live, work and play through some pretty harsh winters. From day one, operation in ice and snow conditions has influenced our design process and the Peragon cover does very well.

To be fair, winter can be a pain and there will be times (1/2" of freezing rain) when it will take some time to clean off our cover so you can open it. It doesn't need to be perfectly cleaned off, some light snow or a crust of ice left is fine.

An advantage Peragon has over every other retractable bed cover is that we do not have a canister - no closed space where ice and snow can build up and prevent operation entirely. Once you sweep off our cover you will be able to open it.

Our guide rail system is robust extruded aluminum that has been designed so there are no water traps where ice could build up and keep the cover from operating.

All of our operating components are concealed so they will not freeze. The only thing that faces the elements is our key lock and it is protected by a high quality Southco rubber cap that is water/ice proof.

I hope that helps!

Sorry to post in a 2015 thread, but I have a couple of questions re:installation on a 2012 XLT 5.5' bed:
Does the shock interfere with the factory tie down locations?
How does the shock mount to the bed?
Would it still be possible to mount a rail to the top of the truck side rails (for a bike mount) without interfering with the paragon cover?
Hope to order one this week pending the answers.
Thanks!
Heath, feel free to PM with the answers or any discount info.

Hi Heath,

I'm interested in the cover as well. I was looking at the Bax Revolver X2 but I like the folding panel setup. I'm down in Texas in the blistering sun. How does it hold up to extreme high temps? I would expect it to get pretty hot to the touch. Also, what kind of weight can the panels support? Please PM me the special deal for forum members.

Best Regards,

Jon

Hi Jon -

I'm glad to hear a Peragon cover is on your short list! Our powder coated aluminum panels, EPDM seals, etc will hold up just fine in Texas. We ship a large percentage of our covers to Texas, California and Florida. You are correct though, our Classic Black finish will get hot in the Texas sun. Our customers in hot climates will often keep a glove or rag handy for opening the cover in comfort. Our Arctic White or Paint Match finishes are also popular because the lighter colors are cooler to the touch.

The Peragon cover will support up to 50 pounds of concentrated weight (like a cooler or tool box) or up to 300 pounds of evenly distributed weight (like snow). When driving, there shouldn’t be any weight on the cover.

I hope that helps!

Then what is the point of being able to support any weight?
My BakFlip can support ~ the same ammount of weight and has tie downs on the top of the cover to secure the load while driving.
