Good question! The answer is two sided...on one hand if your bed is fully packed all the way to the front wall, you won't be able to open your Peragon cover. On the other hand, with a Peragon cover you CAN fully pack your bed all the way to the front wall!

Most covers we ship are for trucks with the short beds - where cargo space is at a premium. Some retractable truck bed covers roll up into a fixed canister that hangs down into the bed and uses up valuable room. We compete well against those designs.

I’ve owned two trucks with the 5.5' bed and my current truck has the 6.5’ bed. On many family trips I pack the bed all the way from the front wall to the tailgate. Every time I do that, I’m thankful I don’t have a canister consuming bed space when I need every inch. True, I can’t open the cover with the bed fully loaded, but I'd rather have the space when I need it than have to work around a canister when loading suitcases, coolers and gear. With a little strategy, I still enjoy full use of my bed. I just put items I need easy access to by the tailgate. Items I know I won’t need until we arrive at our destination are loaded toward the front.

A couple other strategies depending on your cargo:

When you're just putting a few items in the bed, an expandable cargo bar can keep your gear from sliding around so the area where our cover retracts stays clear. Cargo bars are relatively inexpensive and having one in your truck bed comes in handy for other uses too.

Like 808XLT suggested, if you load shorter items toward the front and taller items toward the tailgate, you can still make good use of most of your bed capacity.

I hope that helps!

Yeah, I know I spelled it wrong, when I realized it, I couldn't edit the thread title.

Glad you like the cover. I love mine, and Peragon is a great company.

I ordered my Peragon bed cover as a direct result of this thread, so thank you OP, even though you spelled thier name wrong, minor in the grand scheme of things. I was about to drop $2K for a Retrax. ..shipping to where I live is brutal, plus the dealer who installs gets his cut ....but the Retrax involves some minor drilling for drain tubes plus a permanent box that the cover rolls into takes up about 2-3 feet of bed space. The Peragon folds up and can be easily removed. Its light aluminum. Its locks and the tailgate can be opened while the cover is locked and vice versa. I can even close the cover with the tailgate UP.

Heath, from Peragon, set me up (earlier in this tread) with my F150forum.com discount. Peragon called to double check my order to make sure what they were making, color matching, and sending to Hawaii was exactly what I wanted.

I ordered Sept 19th, recieved, installed and showed it off today, on Oct 5th. Just using the install videos made it easy for me to set up and install perfectly on the first try (and Im not normally a DYI dude). It works just like they say it does and Looks Like it was made for my new F150. Mahalo Peragon! Another satisfied customer.

work truck? <br/>not today!

all good, this thread you started saved me from paying 2x as much for a Retrax cover. Mahalo! now more sweet pics to share

i purchased shorter 5/16 bolts to adjust the ramps, as the ones supplied were too long and dangerously pertrusive on my 2016 XLT 6.5ft bed. no problem, less than $2 at my local hardware store. Now you cant even see um.

Have you had any issues with water leaking in the bed?

Define issues. The cover is not waterproof. That said I've noticed little water after car washes making it through. It's absolutely not watertight though.

when I wash my beautiful truck, small amounts of water seeps/ drips through the corners and perimerter edges of the bed, but none through the cover. items will stay dry in the middle of the bed.if you seek watertight, not the cover for you. get a toolbox or a lid
peragon cover fits my versatile lifestyle

Default Will the Paragon cover block the front boxlink brackets?

I have a 2015 F150 Supercrew shortbed and want a truck bed cover. I wanted the gator trax or retrax MX that roll up in front of the truck. But looking at those, it looks like the canister that holds the cover when rolled up will block the front boxlink where I want to mount the following bike rack:
https://www.f150forum.com/f118/boxli...e-rack-305074/

So I found this one from Paragon. It looks like it might work. And I can even get it in the same blue jean metallic color as my truck. Looking at pictures of it, there are some brackets for it by the front boxlink. But it looks like they might be fixed and the bike rack bar might not interfere.

I want to leave this bike rack mounted on the box link brackets when the cover is on and be able to slide the cover to open and close it. When hauling bikes, I also want to leave the Paragon bed cover open and be able to tie it down to the front so it doesn't slide on my bikes. Can I do both of those?

Let me know if have both the Paragon cover and the bike rack.

Thanks.

Thank you for considering a Peragon truck bed cover! I've spent some time looking through the thread you linked to, but it is a bit hard to give you firm answers without seeing it first hand.

Looking at the first photo in the thread, it appears the bike nearest the cab is fairly close to the front of the bed. When retracted open, the Peragon cover will take about 6", so I think you'd need to quick release the Peragon cover to mount the front bike. The good news is with a Peragon cover you have the quick release option! There isn't a fixed canister in your way.

The Peragon brackets near the front BoxLink are our ramps. On your F-150, our ramps still leave access to your BoxLink tie downs for straps, but they may obstruct something like the bike rack bar, it is hard to tell. Worst case, you can remove a ramp with two nuts in just a few seconds.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for the info, Heath. If I can quickly remove the ramp for mounting bikes, that might work. Does the Peragon require any drilling in to the bed? If so, I'm not too concerned since it is aluminum. But just want to know. I might just mount some removable fork mounts down the back sides of the rear part of the bed if the side bars won't work with the Peragon cover. But I hope they do.

Is there a way to tie down the cover when it is folding up against the front of the bed so it doesn't move when the bed is open and full of stuff higher than the bed cover?
How water proof is it? I would like to put suit cases back there and not have them get wet, even in pouring rain.

Thanks.
