Default Painting badges

I am thinking of painting my badges with plastidip and was wondering if I could do it without taking the time to take the badges off by just taping off the area around the badges on the truck and then painting the badges or if it would be worth the time to actually take them off. Thanks!

Yes you can.

I took mine off, snapped the two pieces separate so that the chrome would be the only thing I painted. I was able to leave the interior of the badge alone, leaving with a matte black outline of the f150, and the interior a different texture.

Tape an inch or two around the emblem, spray it, peel off the "border"/excess.

As you can see in my profile picture I did that to my Ford logo on the back. I slipped the tape underneath it and taped around for about six inches. Took 15 minutes and have had it for a long time without any peeling.

Do they just pop off or are they on with double side sticky ? I would love to cover the ugly chrome that's peeling .

Plasti dip is like spray paint. You just spray it on. And it doesn't peel off easy until you want to.

Side badges are held on by tape, tailgate has tape and snaps.

I dipped mine on the truck and used 12" wide paper to protect the surrounding paint, then used overlays for the F-150 from ebay:

I just recently tinted mine with the VHT nightshades but still the same process. Just to be safe I taped newspapers around it so I had a decent size area covered. Better safe than sorry with over spray. Though, I don't think plastidip has as bad of an overspray issue as regular paint.
