Default Issue with New SCT Tuner - X4 7015 on 2011 5.0 liter

I'm not 100% positive, but I believe this issue with the "canned tunes" only effects the 5.0 liter and is applicable to all 2011 and newer trucks. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Additionally, from what I've been able to gather over the last week contacting SCT is that the X3 canned tunes are the exact same ones that were used on the X4. 87/91/93 Performance

The issue is that the cooling fan stays on 100% of the time independent of what octane performance tune you are running. I've not verified the 91 and 93 octane variants but a tech at SCT said that it is an issue with all three octane levels.

This has been a known issue on at least these forums since Nov of 2012. This post was posted in regards to the X3 3015 (https://www.f150forum.com/f70/sct-tu...-stays-180977/), which the newer X4 7015 was set to replace. The X4 only been available to consumers for a few weeks now.

And then, to make it worse, they can fix it apparently by writing a custom tune...but they state they will only write it for my 87 octane and not for the 91 and 93 octane variants. A fix is on it's way they say.

I've done no mods to my vehicle (100% stock at the moment) so why should I have to pay for custom tunes when this device was suppose to come standard with three functioning preloaded tunes???

I'm thoroughly disappointed with this device and the customer support I've received up to this point.

If you're disappointed, return it to your point of purchase. Simple... easy and then there's no hard feelings.

The X4 canned tunes on my 2013 5.0 didn't have the fans running full time. They only came on with the a/c and when the cts was hot enough. Now all that is run is the php tune though.

Hmm, I was wondering if anyone has any experience w/the new 7015. Sounds like they do. I'm wanting a tune, but I'm not wanting problems. I'll sit back and read these forums for a bit longer before I spring for this. I don't want headaches.

Default SCT X4 problem

Just got my tuner from 5* and the tunes are awesome but the tuner has a problem with the hdmi port. Unexpected power loss and reboot scares me when tuning so I dropped it in the mail to SCT today. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

The canned tunes are so tame it's almost worth not having, marginally better than stock, it's the custom tunes that really wake up the truck.

Kind of like buying a suit off the rack, yeah it'll cover your azz and keep you warm but if you really want to pop you need it tailor made.

I've reflashed the EEPROM in my truck at least 20 times and not once has it rebooted or lost power.

I'd definitely be requesting an RMA on the device and getting a replacement.

Update on this issue is that it has been fixed by updating the software on the SCT device through the manufacture's website.

All default standard tunes work as expected and do not force the cooling fan to remain on 100% of the time.

Glad you got this worked out. I'm about 6-7 months away from out-of-warranty, so I'll probably wait until then to get a tune. I've waited this long...
