Well I have had a fold a cover for 4 years now and within 3 years the seals totally gave out. Leaks like crazy now and need to replace the seals. You think 4hrs was bad to install try drilling out all the rivets etc and replacing the seals. I think this cover is junk bought it on a recommendation instead of a fiberglass top as easy to remove. For like $650 I would have expected a lot linger life than 3 years before major maintenance. Beware of this product it is not that good and requires every 3 years $60+ in parts and hours of work. Look at their video. www.foldacover.com/hidge-seal-replacement. Not sure my work take is big enough to do this either.

Well today I change the rear seal on the fold a cover, Ittook almost 3hrs (yea go ahead Steffens bash me. But I grew up with tools, mydad was shop teacher and I worked in a machine shop while going, to college, rebuild engines etc. So I’m way better with tools then your normal Joe.). Itwas not nearly as easy as the video made you believe. First the pop rivets didnot drill out, they just spun with the drill bit. Thus had to use screw drivers, plyers and a punch to get them all out, this took forever. The stainless onesdid drill out as per the video. Then the next issue was the holes to put the poprivets in. They did line up on the ends where the stainless ones and firstaluminum ones but the rest where real hard. Needed to remove the cardboard anduse clamps to press the 2 sections together and again use the punch to help linethe holes up.

Bottom line, unless you love this cover and want to spend like6+ hrs and $60 every 3 years I would say stay away from this cover. I hate thiscover, it has always leaked a little (but at least they tell you that) and is amaintenance nightmare. I wish I did what I did with my other truck and get a fiberglasscover. It lasted the life of the truck with zero maintenance, only issue was abear to remove. But worth it compared to this POS. I got the fold a cover as a recommendationfrom a friend (he’s on my you know what list now).

No other cover uses those older "piano" hinges. I think you found the reason why.
