Default Fold-a-Cover leaking

Help!!! Bought a fold a cover for my 2013 F-150, and had it installed at a shop here in Memphis. I have the tailgate step, and this thing leaks from the front and the back , both on the left side. as you look from the rear. Is there anyway to stop the leaking ??? Thinking about some type of silicone caulk, hate to do it, but water puddles on my bed rug, and worried about mold.

Any suggestions? The shop took like 5 hours to install and said just don't take the thing off, cause it will be very difficult to realign....

5 hours? Seems like the installer never install;ed one before and most likely forgot to add the weather seals, drain tubes etc. I would call Fold A Cover and ask them for help cause the installer is not capable of helping.

Which model did you get, the Elite or LS ?

wfxr,

This thread popped up in my alerts and I just wanted to address the issues you seem to be having.

Unfortunately, it seems like the shop you went to may not be familiar with installing Fold-a-Cover products if it took the 5 hours to do the install and that could be the cause some of these other problems you are experiencing.

As for the leaking, feel free to take some pictures of where the cover is leaking and send them into us at Fold-a-Cover and we would be happy to take a look at them and try to offer you up some solutions.

One common thing thing we recommend would be a tailgate seal. It is just a foam tape that goes around the edge of the tailgate to prevent water from getting in. Tailgates are generally not designed to be water tight and if there is water leaking in, it is often not the cover that is leaking, but water making its way in through the tailgate area. You can pick up this foam tape at any auto accessories store and it would be a very cheap and easy way to fix the leaks if that is in fact the issue.

As for removing the cover, if you want to remove the cover temporarily it is actually very easy and there is no re-aligning necessary. You can take a look at this YouTube video to see exactly how this can be done.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at info(at)foldacover.com

I just recently bought a G4 Elite for my 2010 King Ranch and love it. It took me about 4 hrs to install it, but that was me by myself. After I washed the truck, there was very little water in the bed. So far, this is a great cover. I am very pleased

Default Fold A Cover Leaking

I have recently bought a G4 as well for my 2010 ford F150, installed it myself and mine is leaking in the exact same place. I am working with their tech support as well. Did you ever get a resolution to this? they had me make several adjustments but it really appears to be leaking from the lock or the hinges

I have the fold-a-cover too and it's leaking in the same spot. Considering selling the thing. I can get it fixed where it holds, but a few weeks later it starts leaking again and I have to go in and re-adjust. Honestly I regret this purchase, I wish i just got the extang now.

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear that you're regretting your purchase. Have you contacted our Support Team to address the issue? While it may not be possible to completely stop water from penetrating the truck bed, the Support Team can usually recommend some tips/tricks to help prevent some of the water from entering the truck bed.

The best way to reach them is to fill out a Technical Support Form by selecting the option for Current Owners at this link: http://www.foldacover.com/contact-us/

Or, you can always reach out via email to support@foldacover.com

I have the G4 as well and installed it myself and only problem I've had with water was in the touchless car wash. Not saying a little doesn't get through. Fold-A-Cover says on their site in the Q & A section not 100% waterproof. I notice in Todderbox pic he doesn't appear to have the tailgate seal installed.
