Default Exhaust Not Loud Enough

Ok, i took the stock exhaust off and installed a 40 series flowmaster 3" in and duel 2.5" out. then installed two turn downs behind the flowmaster. i am not impressed with it at all. sounds goot at idel, rev in park blows, not loud at all, when you drive it its loud inside the cab but not really outside the truck. what do i do next?? i need it a little louder. i plan on installing headers and was thinking high flow cats, and also redoing the all the 2.5" stock pipe to 3" pipe. later on i am going to put on either a turbo or supercharger.

Should have run a true dual exhaust system. Used Magnaflow bullets. Then it would have been loud. The cats do make it somewhat quieter however.

Do you have the Super 40 mufflers?? Those are the ones that I wanted but the exhaust shop that I use said that they suck and told me to go with the regular 40 series and I'm completely amazed with it. It's loud outside and it's loud with the windows down but it's pretty quiet in the cab with the windows up.

Hmm that's odd because I'm happy with the 40's that I got installed yesterday and they're loud too.

i like it just wish it was a little louder. i love the tone mine has though. just like a mustang with a 40 series on it. so i am thinking about cutting out my cats and turning the rear o2 sensors off with my predator, then clamping a new pipe in its place and keeping my factory cats in place. then if i ever need to reinstall my cats, i can have the factory ones welded back on.

do it, but good luck getting a shop to do it, and I wish you more luck if you do it yourself if it is a 97-03.
