Default Easy Speaker upgrade well worth it!

2012 screw fx4, and I just replaced the speakers. No amp, no aftermarket head unit, no sub. Just speakers. I bought 4 of the Pioneer TS-A6886R. They aren't expensive, but after a ton of research on trying to figure out what speakers to go with I landed on these.

For someone that doesn't need an crazy audio system and doesn't care about upgrading the head unit these are amazing for the $100 for all 4 speakers. I bought them on Amazon along with the adapters for my truck for around $110. They took around 2 hours to install and anyone could do it. There's a handful of videos on YouTube for door panel removal. I found this one handy. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R6_EON_fOMw

I also skipped the step to disconnect the door handles and got two 5 gallon buckets and just rested the loose door panels on the buckets while leaning them on the doors.

Big audio difference on a minimal budget.

It's amazing what just changing the speakers will do. One suggestion though, check crutchfield.Com. They seem to have those same speakers for $80 and they come with the adapters you need free of charge. Pretty certain shipping is most always free as well. I picked up some RF speakers for $40 a pair, usually $65. They have some awesome deals.

Thanks for the suggestion I checked crutchfield and that's why I bought them through Amazon. They were $80 on crutchfield and $47 on Amazon. The wiring adapters were $5/pair on Amazon and all of it shipped in 2 days for free. Regardless where they come from for under $120 anyone can do this upgrade and it's well worth the difference.

Doh. I think it was my lack of coffee this AM, I was thinking $80 for all 4. I've now had coffee and my brain can fully function. Speaker upgrade was the first thing I did.

It's noticeable, but not full. Definitely a better bass response over the factory speakers. I did just buy this on Amazon to help fill out the sound further. Not going to be glass shaking, but from the reviews I've read on it I should be very happy.

The clarity is very nice. I am sure an amp would really help, but keep in mind I was trying to accomplish the entire audio upgrade for less than $300. I also looked at the Alpine SPR-68, which I would have really liked but were too much. Also looked at the infinity Kappa 682.11cf, but once again was on a budget. The other thing I need to continue to remind myself was I am not running these to an amp. Without an amp most will sound very similar. If you're running them to an amp buy the alpine spr-68. If not, you'll be very happy with the noticeable upgrade the pioneers provide.

I also just purchased a set of Alpine tweeters that I will also be replacing the stock ones with and will let you know once I get them installed.

I am not looking to add an amp or head unit. Just speakers change.
