[Easy Guide] - Disable key in ignition door chime
#41
Thank gawd! I'm a bit OCD crazy, sound sensitive and this beeping sound makes me crazy. For me it's not (only) about leaving the door open while I'm out, with stereo on or whatever. Spend a lot of time in my truck. Right now im out in the mtns. Chillen reading , DVD. , whatev. Want to turn key on for seat heat, the ***ing beeping goes.. Why so many times?!? Also since I'm complaining, what's the deal with the AC/heat . When I turn on it's starts off at full bore. Frustrating. First world problems. Thanks for this solution . I'm going to gladly hack the Shiz out of those wires. Hope it doesn't affect the reverse sensors , as I've become dependent on them. And also plan to hook up a reverse cam to stereo. Hope that's not related...
I really hate the truck now. I m buying jap after this

I never got mine turned off. Maybe because my airbag light is on after removing the sensor for a light install. And that seatbelt regimine of clicking 9 times or whatever didn't work. But the other stuff, just sortof works sometimes . I've had bigger issues to deal with unfortunately. Like rebuilding front end, and the dang engine tick.
Atleast you got a new a better year. It could be much worse ;
The Tundras are pretty badass. Very reliable. The japs are smart *****. Well some of em. Get anything jap. Test it with a Geiger counter.

Thanks, just did this on my 2014. It only works with the key in the first position. Still chimes when the key is clicked up to the first position. That's annoying also.
I use my truck at job sites and commonly leave the key in the ignition because am jumping in and out of the vehicle: hooking up a trailer, picking up tools or trash.
I don't want to worry about the key. It stays in the ignition and I know where it is. And, when my buddy needs to move the truck a few feet for the trailer, the key is where it needs to be.

Worked great on my '16 XLT, only had to remove the 3 screws from bottom of steering housing. It took me a little longer than usual finding the tab to lift for removing wire but everything else went quickly.
No wire hashing or whatever others claiming, experienced. Very good tip.

I have a 2013 FX4 Off Road 3.5 ECO. I took off the panels above and below the steering wheel and my plugs don't look the same. There are 5 plugs and I tried the key in the ignition and unplugging one plug at a time, expecting to unplug one and the chimes would cease. Didn't happen. Not one of the pugs I unplugged stopped the chime. I did notice that ALT225 has a Platinum pkg with auto steering wheel controls. Mine does not have the auto steering wheel or the Platinum pkg. Don't know if that matters or not.
