Got cross eyed looking at it, finding any other fault in that mess would = a monumental challenge.

Just say no to phone typing or figure out where the space bar is.

I saw this thread when first posted ,,(Useful mod for those that need it, I just dont need it. Good writeup alt255)
what I dont understand is why Rnlcomp is still complaining about one thing or another.
I have better things to spend my time on
apparently not.

Just wanted to say thanks to Alt for this mod. Did it on my work truck and now on my personal 150 I just bought last night. Can't stand the key chime, not sure why anyone would not want to do this mod.

BTW, I am no where close to an electrician and this was an easy mod.

If you feel the need to hack up your wiring harness as outlined above by all means do so, but don't go crying to the dealer or to any forum because you screwed up your truck.

I only made this video to guide people to the proper way without damaging their vehicle.

What happens if you forget to pull the handle when you close the door? The pulling the wire method seems better.

Default Awesome!

I absolutely love this fix. It was perfectly illustrated, easy, and a fun little project. I opted for the toggle switch so I can turn the feature off and on and that too works perfectly. Photos of my work. I think it turned out custom.

The other related feature I got rid of was the seat belt chime "seatminder" I think they called it. You can program it out, see page 47 in your user manual.

Nicely done Elkstone!

I don't need this mod but I'm going to keep it in mind should I feel the need in the future... or if I'm just bored and feel like tinkering. This is by far a better solution than manually tripping the door latch if you want a permanent solution. If you just want to shut it up one time then trip the latch. Tripping it every time is just a hassle and like others have pointed out will add wear to your latch and/or striker when you forget to un-trip it.

So remove either the blue OR grey wire? Or just blue as you have pictured?! Just curious as I may attempt this....

Blows my mind that so many are willing to jeopardize any and all possible electrical repairs while in warranty to chop up the factory harness when all you have to do is flick the latch lever closed.

What ever floats the boat comes to mind but it's more like what ever sinks it by the majority of posts.

Yes the mod works, yes tripping the latch produces the same result, one voids warranty one does not....choose your poison.
