Just installed the S&B cai. took 4 days to get here from time of order. Parts are all well made.Took about 30 min to install. On first drive i noticed quit a bit more get up and go , that being said i am using this with a 3 inch pipe straight from the cat to a magnaflow muffler and 3 inch pipe from the back of the muffler to the tail. To early to tell what fuel milage will be but i sure love the sound and the power increase.I highly recommend this CAI.I will post more once i see what mpgs i get.Cheers.

It did wake up the truck some more snap off the line
I am looking at doing an exhaust still but like u said don't want to break the bank
Still workin' at getting the Airaid. Bought a Gibson 9210 cat- back dual exhaust, single side last night. Probably will be next weekend's project. Was $318 through Amazon from MVP. Last one at that price, but there are others at a slightly higher price. This model is aluminized. I realize if you live in the salt that this may not be the best solution for you. This morning, I noticed that Jegs has the SS counter part 69210 for under $400.00. I live in the South, so salt is less of a problem. Besides, this will give me the opportunity to see how much change in performance there really is before spending the extra jack on the stainless model.

All that being said and based on all of the readings (there are a lot of them), I am going with the cat- back mod first to get good flow from the engine. No sense in flowing more air into the engine if it has nowhere to go. Just sayin'.

I watched a Youtube clip entitled Mythbusters- cold air intake. You should watch it, too. IMO, the most benefit in installing a cai is to straighten out the air in the tube (more laminar flow). The flexible hose does not really do that. Watch the video for illustration.

Hey Buckshot 77
I hear what you're saying about more airflow go in and and no place for it to go
It really is one step at a time for me budget and all
Being that I have the programmer from superchips supposably tuned for the cold air intake
I hope my gas mileage improves over the summer months I don't know if its a programmer or the cold air intake but my mileage is really taking a hit and I am not driving hard on the gas
So I'm a little hesitant about spending money on an exhaust being that cold air intake and programmer was supposed to improve my gas mileage according to claims or good marketing
On the plus side when I hit the gas I notice a big difference from stock

I do not know about using a programmer, only because I know how sensitive computer settings can be. I plan to do the exhaust and cai and see what they do. I am less concerned about more power. I am really hoping to see better mileage. We will see, I guess.

Installed the Airaid 400-299 system this weekend. It makes no more sound at low rpm than the stock system. It does growl a little bit when you snap the throttle, but not very noticeable compared with the Gibson cat- back exhaust system. Installation was a snap, under 30 minutes. Everything fit well with no modifications.

I purchased it from MVP Motorsports via Amazon. They are also on eBay. They had the best price for the same item at the time. I made the order on Monday night, and it was waiting for me when I got home on Friday; IMO, really fast service. There are several others offering this exhaust. I would recommend looking at Amazon, eBay, Summit and Jegs. Happy hunting!

Default Gibson Dual Sport Exhaust

Thanks
From MVP I purchased the 9210 Dual Sport system in aluminized steel. It is a single in dual out exhaust, both pipes exiting behind the right side rear wheel, just like the original. Because the headpipe hanger was welded in the incorrect position, I ordered the 69210 stainless steel system as a backup. Since the 9210 purchase, Gibson has been working with me to correct the oversight. The remaining parts of the system went together very well. Now that the matter is resolved with the headpipe hanger, I am going to install the stainless system and attempt to sell the aluminized system. Interested?
