Cold Air Intake
Is getting a cold air intake worth it? I have a 2005 f150 Lariat 5.4L V8. I was considering getting a cold air intake and I was wondering if it would be worth it. I know there are some benefits....

You won't see gas mileage improvements that equal enough savings to pay for the thing anytime soon if that's what you mean by worth it. You will see a slight increase in HP and change the sound of the engine. I'm not saying it's not worth it. In fact I'll be getting one myself but you won't get your money back.

Yea i figured it wouldnt make that much of a difference to pay for itself but it will help. What do you mean by a different sound from the engine? A better more beastly sound? haha

As long as you're not looking for it to gain you some extra mpg's and save some gas money then it's totally worth it. It was a night and day difference when I installed my Air Force 1 CAI. The throttle response was instant and the truck was a lot more fun to drive. I'd highly recommend the AF1 CAI intake to anyone.

I noticed a slight increase in mpg with my AFE stage 2 intake and with my 40 series exhaust....BUT when the truck sounds as good as it does with these mods...I tend to suffer from heavy footidas, so my mpg suffers

They are all good brands and you will find differing opinions on what people have on their truck. If you get the AF1 get the 3" tube though because that doesn't require custom tuning where the 3.5" tube does require custom tuning. I have the 3" tube on my truck even though I have custom tuning and I absolutely love the look and performance.
