You won't have any rattles with a Peragon cover! We are solid aluminum, but the rubber seals between the panels and guide rails prevent metal-to-metal contact that could cause noise.

The four 1/4" holes needed to mount our cover are drilled through the inside lip of your truck bed. Those holes are not on the top of your bed so they wouldn't be an eyesore if you completely removed the Peragon cover down the road. A clamp-mount option is something we have on our drawing board, but we don't have a timeframe for when it might launch.

I think i narrowed it down and I am trying to decide between a Retrax Pro and a Roll N Lock A Series. I am also keeping Peragon in mind.
While there are things I like about the Retrax covers (ability to lock anywhere along rails, no spring mechanism to wear out, no pull strap), the canister size is larger than the Roll-n-Lock and TCUSA. Add to that fact the Retrax doesn't retract all the way into the canister, it sticks out a few inches. I have the 5'6" bed too and want to maximize the space. The Roll-N-Lock retracts flush with the canister. The TCUSA does not but it has an even smaller canister.

There are so many little things I like about both covers but neither has it all. I like the fact the RNL locks to the tailgate but hate the thought of having to open the cover everytime I want to open the tailgate.

The TCUSA allows the tailgate to be opened without opening the cover and has the "keyless" option. Another thing I like about TCUSA is the ability to add the Yakima tracks to the rails. I cycle, so having the ability to haul bikes while keeping bed free for gear is a great feature.

The RNL M-series is 300-400 cheaper than TCUSA, so there's that too.

I bought this truck from my dad and he had put an Undercover on it which I'm not a big fan of. Nice cover but not as functional as I'd like. Will be selling it.

Driving myself nuts thinking about bed covers!

If security is your number one priority, the best cover is a RollNLock because it locks into the tailgate as well as both sides of the truck. No other cover on the market does that. However, the cover requires four small holes be drilled on the bed side of the tailgate. If you're interested, wait a few weeks and look at the new RollNLock A-Series cover. The A-Series has interlocking aluminum slats (like Truck Covers USA) but there is no top vinyl laminate (which is the M-Series).

The A-Series definately looks intriguing and the 4 holes in the tailgate don't bother me. Having to open the cover in order to open the tailgate is the hangup I have. Security comes with a price (inconvenience) I suppose. The A-series price is around the same as TCUSA from what I've seen.

Thanks for all the opinions. I appreciate all the help.

Those are good points Tower, and the more I look, the more I am leaning towards the Roll N Lock M Series. I don't mind drilling into the truck, but I don't think I would go with the tailgate lock feature for the reason that I also would not want to have to unlock the cover every time I open the tailgate. I noticed they have an option to eliminate that. I don't retract my soft cover too often as it is now. I think the rail locks would be enough.

I didn't realize the cost of the Retrax Pro, and I'm assuming the RNL A series would be more inline with pricing with the Retrax Pro.

The RNL functionality is exactly what I'm looking for. While Peragon is pretty slick, I just prefer the roll up type. But after the tons of reading on this site, if I do go with the RNL, I hope their customer service is half what I saw out of Peragon's.

I did go with the Roll n Lock M series with the Cargo Management System. Local place is ordering it along with some wheel well liners for $125 labor. Id tackle it myself, but its been below 25 degrees for months. It will be money well spent to NOT install it. Hopefully have it in a week or so.

I also picked up a Weathertech floor mat for the rear. I had a mat back there but it looks like it was for a Crew Cab. Its only half as wide as the floor back there.

Last thing i need to do is decide if I want to spray in liner the bed, Bedrug, Bedtred or just get a mat back there. I have the drop in liner in it now. I think I might just go with a cheap mat and call it a day.

Would like to hear your impression of the RNL and cargo management once you get it installed. Interested in how it looks without the tailgate piece if you went that route (I didn't know it was an option). This setup is one that I'm considering.

And at those temperatures I don't blame you for having it installed!

I have had this installed for about a month now. It definitely seems pretty secure. Opening and closing is smooth. After you fully open it, you can bring it back and lock it into I think three different opened positions. I think it looks pretty nice as well. I like how I don't have to constantly pull and adjust and push down on the old soft cover Velcro along the sides every time I open and close it.

Its quiet, but you will hear it flap a little if you drive on the highway with the rear slider open. With the rear slider closed and all the other windows open, you will not hear it. It does take in a little water at the corners of the tailgate, not anything substantial, and its obvious where it gets in. The installer added a nice piece of gasket between the tailgate and end of the tonneau that helps a lot. I'm not sure if it comes with the cover or not, but its necessary. however he couldn't extend it the entire length because it would interfere with the rolling operation of the cover. So I haven't had a chance to plug it up somehow in those areas yet, but its just one small section on each corner. I think its because i didn't use the tailgate lock.

I also had to re-screw in the two rear endcaps on each side. The screws that the installer used and were provided with the cover didnt hold the end caps on, and if you pulled the tonneau cover closed too hard with the tailgate down, the caps would fly off. I had some slightly longer screws I switched out and they have held ever since. There is also a metal spacer that's like a 1" square that had double sided tape that for some reason was added to the ends of those end caps. The sticky tape lasted one second. It was 5 degrees out when it was installed, so they couldn't adhere properly, but I ended up super gluing them on and now they stay.

Overall pretty happy. I can't say its worth the $1200+ for the cover, I felt it was a little on the expensive side when i was buying it. But after looking at what seemed to be every cover out there, this one fit me best, so i just had to pay what it cost. It seems pretty expensive for what it is, but it is a real nice cover, and even without using the tailgate lock, if anyone is breaking in back there now, its going to be tougher than my soft cover, and they are going to have to work for it and hopefully it will be noisy.

The cargo management is really nice too. Its also not worth the almost $300 it goes for, its just a convenience thing and just a plastic sliding gate when you think of it. But it is a well thought out companion piece and locks every inch it seems all along the track.

Another side note, I have a drop in bedliner. They have to cut about 8 inches or so down from the top the entire width of the bed near the cab to install the canister. You cant really see it or notice it, but it leaves the bedliner flopping. I ended up buying two plastic covered locking containers from target for gear i like to carry with me that were about 24 inches wide and 14 inches tall and i have both of them side by side underneath the canister, ratchet strapped to the back bed tie hooks. That keeps the bedliner in check. That's also the height you have left back there under the canister for roughly 10 inches or so. Like i said, I did not use the tailgate lock that comes with it, because I didn't want to have to unlock the cover every time i wanted to open the tailgate alone, but they would have also needed to trim down the bedliner section that covers the tailgate as well. That part would have been noticeable and I don't think I would have liked that. I'm also not sure how that would have interfered with loading the bed with stuff, because it was a long bar that needed to be attached to the top inside portion of the tailgate.

There's a little maintenance with this cover. I was told I should expect to open the canister to clear out debris every now and again. Seems easy, there're a cap along the top that unscrews off with just two screws. Also making sure the two drain lines don't freeze in the winter or the cover wont close. This doesn't seem like it could be a major issue, just something to keep in mind. Also, keeping the rails lubed up every few months with a quick spray. All easy things, just extra things to keep in mind.

I think that covers everything.
