These rubber bumpers are put on during the install process and are self adhesive. I would not be surprised if over time the changing temperatures and humidity loosed the adhesive that holds these on. You would simple need to stick new ones on.

That said I have not heard anyone complain in any reviews about this actually happening. And, in fact, I did note that self adhesive bumpers are pretty standard - as in - iv seen them used on other covers too. Not just Bak.

Like me I said I would have to stretch to find a valid reason to truly steer away.

Iv had the cover for a little bit now ( the Mx4) and every time I use the tail gate I am more and more appreciative of the fact that I don't have to lift the cover to close the tailgate. It amazes me how this is not how all other covers work by default.

i don't think you can go wrong with a backflip. Especially in the price range.
Sounds like a pretty ringing endorsement to me! I think I will go with the MX4. I reached out to a vendor on here for a price quote... hopefully it is in my range.

Thanks. I pulled the trigger on this today based on reviews here. Going to be keeping golf clubs among some tools back there so keeping water out is a big deal to me. Thanks again. Bought direct for their "Cyber Price" which seems to be the price they will negotiate down to regardless of sale/no sale ($769 no tax, free shipping).

Any issues with your bed extender hitting the rails when you rotate it outward?

Negative. No issue in swinging them around. Good call out because I didnt even think of that being a potential issue but it's a valid point. in the case of the MX4 on a 2016 F150 with the OEM bed extenders: No there is no issue with the cover rails getting in the way of the extender when swinging it around.

Thanks! I use my Bed Extender and that was one thing giving me pause to get the MX4 or the F1.

this just made me a little happier. Gonna be a few months till I get one but I saw the $900 price on their site (in fairness wasn't looking all too hard) and was debating going back to a peragon. Had one on my '14. That price is not much more than my peragon cost and the bakflips have always been my favorite.

Peragon was was a nice cover, definitely different! Did a decent job of keeping water out, but not sure if it was my seal setup or what but holy crap did that thing make noise. One of my favorite features is the rear sliding window...that cover made use of it non existent. Constantly squeaking and rattling. Was so easy to open and close though. So many covers to choose from so many pros and cons!

The only thing that still has me worried with the mx4 or any of theirs is fully open blocking the rear window. I'd like to see what's back there! Trying to think how often I need full bed and can only think of a handful of times...which has me thinking I won't mind. Mainly looking for secure area with minimal leaks and occasional ability to haul big items that are taller than bed

sorry for the rant, one more question. Notice any noise from this cover with rear window open?

This is our 5th F-150 SC. On the 4 previous models (2001, 2003, 2005, and 2008) I used roll tops (Roll-n-Lock, Pace Edwards, Retrax). The Retrax was used on the '05 and then moved to the '08. The only problem I had was that the Retrax started 'ripping' from the opening stress near the front of the bed. Also the lock striker wore away the aluminum rails from being used often.

My dealer recommended that I switch to a fold-able top for our new 2016. He recommended the BakFlip G2. When we went to the local accessories dealer they recommended the BakFlip MX4 instead. I had previously done some research on the Fold-a-Cover G4 Elite for my brother in-laws Tacoma. The plus side of the G4 was that you can open the front panel if you wanted to store items in the front of your bed. I decided to go with the BakFlip MX4 because I liked the idea of being able to fully open the top and secure it against the back window if necessary.

So far I am happy with it, but it's only been a few weeks. The other day it rained and there was a little leakage by the sides of the tailgate. The only issue I have other than that is that my 2016 has the ability to automatically open the tailgate, and with the MX4 in the closed position the tailgate needs assistance to open. The problem this causes is that I may inadvertently open the tailgate, and it unlocks and does not open until I hit a bump in the road, so I am constantly checking the tailgate to ensure that it is locked.

I'm wondering about this also. I have a vinyl roll up cover that flaps and makes noise that's why I'm leaning toward a solid fold cover.

Mine was that way at first as well. After a few months it works as it did without the mx4 cover

Question: If I wanted to buy this cover, is it possible to haul two motorcycles (dirt bikes) with the cover folded or would I need to remove it? If remove, how difficult is it for one person to take off?
