Default 4.6 exhaust

I have a 2010 f150 with the 4.6 v8. What's a good exhaust system for it?

I have 2008 4.6 and I run true dual super 40 flowmaster and it does great.I was running a si and do, but true duals and a custom tune is the way to go on the 4.6s.

Question

orangeTHUNDERZ - I have a 2010 f150 with the 4.6 v8. What's a good exhaust system for it?
And what are you trying to accomplish/fix/etc.?

The OEM exhaust system is ...
  • straight-thru, free-flowing. *resonator and muffler.
    .
  • stainless steel.
.

It also depends on the sound you want. Check out some Yourtube vids for the sound of different exhaust brands.

We're going to be a bit biased, but MagnaFlow has a number of exhausts for the '10. gDMJoe makes a great point, though. Exhaust is very subjective so listen to some clips where you can on YouTube to get a general idea, but know that there's no replacement for hearing it in person. You may be able to meet some local forum members so you can hear the nuance and get a feel for the volume.

That said, MagnaFlow exhausts give a nice deep, smooth tone. It's generally not the harshest sound (which we're aware some people like), but even within our extensive cat-back exhausts list there is some variety with Off Road Pro Series and Competition Series exhausts offering more volume than the usual Street Series. All of our exhausts are lap-welded and mandrel-bent from 100 percent stainless steel in our Rancho Santa Margarita, California, facility so they're built to last and we trust that so much that we offer a lifetime warranty.

I was just at an exhaust shop yesterday asking but a true dual system for my '06 4.6. The guy said due to the 4 cats, it ain't gonna do anything more for sound or performance than the glasspack that I already have on. Since my glasspack has been on 4yrs it's basically a straight pipe setup now.

I personally like the Flowmaster options as well, I have the American Thunder system on my '05 4.6L, CatBack SI/DO with the Series 40 muffler. It sounds awesome and like a V8 should, I don't think performance changed much but with the stock exhaust looking like a bent straw going over the rear axle because it was pinched shut so much, I know it flows much better.
