Default Tuning a Raptor

Hello,
Im wondering if tuning a Raptor is worth it.
Im in the process of purchasing a tuner for my truck 09 5.4L, and im trying to convince my brother who is the Raptor owner 11 6.2L to get a tuner along with me. His truck is bone stock and it'll stay that way.
If anyone can chime in i would appreciate it.
Please include tuning specs.
Thanks

IMHO tunes are always worth it. They make driving a lot more fun and makes the truck shift the way I like.

Hell, i had a 07 2.3L Ranger and it was tuned. Huge difference!

I have 3 tunes from Mike at 5Star. The improvement of shift pattern is worth it, let alone the power increase. It's only about a 20ish peak increase but it gains power everywhere so it's very usable. An increase of ~1mpg is typical as well.

I keep reading all sorts of great things about Mike at 5Star, so I'm getting one for mine. Deciding between the X4 or the Livewire. The 6.2L appears to have some room for improvement in the tuning department.

This. Peak to peak hp numbers are good and all, but biggest difference he will see on a good tune just driving around town is remapped shift points for the transmission tuning and throttle lag being 95% elimated as well.

Hey ZBoater, going today to get a Raptor myself. It is a 14, I will be keeping an eye out for your results if you get the tune. I would consider one too if the numbers look good. I could always use better performance in any truck. Thanks.

The 6.2Ls are great candidates for tuning. They leave a lot to be desired from the factory especially the raptor with its larger tires. Like it has been said the Peak numbers are not bad, but the real gain is in the driveability and responsiveness.
