Toyota's answer to the raptor

Tacoma vs. F100(Ranger)
Its too bad the planned redesign of the Ranger, new F100 was put on the shelf in 2009. It would've been nice to show what Ford can do with a small/mid size truck........300hp 3.7L V6 Ranger......WOW!

I still think the Toys are the ugliest trucks on the planet, no matter what ornaments they stick on it.

And i have two of the Toyota vehicles you won't call a truck that still run like a champ at 20+ years old and both have been beat to hell. They might not make "trucks" now (even though the tundra is a pretty good truck) but the pickups were one hell of a truck back then

I don't get it. Why are you all saying this is to compete witht he raptor? Not even close. They don't even mention that in the article. Stop assuming and fabricating facts. This is a mid size truck meant to comepete with other mid size trucks. No other mid size has an off road package like the tacoma. The tacoma is a great truck. My buddy has one with a 4 inch lift and 35's. It's a beast. Even with the lift, tires, tune and intake it has had zero problems in the past 3 years since buying it new. WAY better than the F150 reliability. He let me drive it and it handles great, unbeleivably smooth. Feels more like a car.

I Like Tires
My 06 with lift, tires, ram air intake, and tune is almost 6 years old and will hit 100k by the end of the year and the only problem I've had with it is I had to replace a window switch. So how is it "WAY better than the F150 reliability"? Using your friends tacoma is a bad example being it's so new. My truck isn't even old by most standards. Your example is nearly equivalent to taking a car off the lot and writing a review on how super reliable it is.

I have had quite a few of them and they are great trucks. And if you have never went off road in one, then you have absolutely no idea how capable they actually are. Even in stock form.
I also agree that the OP was the one that compared it to the raptor. There is no where in the article that states its a competitor of the raptor.

I love the older Tacomas. Those are great trucks! But how does a 3 year old truck with 0 problem make it better than the F150? Does it even have 50k miles on it? I would sure hope it could last 3 whole years without breaking.

Not to go way off topic, but what is the GVW or average on those older toyota trucks?
