I ordered my truck without the applique. Its not exactly matte black (looks grey to me but Im color blind so my opinion doesnt count) so it doesnt match all the other matte black accents. On my OW truck i just felt it wasnt the best look, plus thats a lot of $$$ for a plastic insert on the tailgate. IMO its totally a personal choice, just like the box and hood decals.
My Raptor applique will be here Thursday/Friday. I've got someone that thinks we can mount it on my XLT tailgate without any problems. Of course I'll be taking the Raptor badge off. And if by chance I can't mount it, I'll hang it in the den over the television. I'll post pics of the back side when I get it.
Applique came today. I can see now why it takes a different tailgate. Friend at body shop said to take off back part, the 2 pieces are held together with double sided tape and clips. It was a bit of work but now I will be able attach to tailgate with double sided tape and won't damage tailgate. Will be filling in indentations where badges were and then painting satin black. Might possibly do the letters in red, haven't made up my mind yet.
