Default Premium fuel?

Hey guys, just a quick one... I'm nearing a final decision on my new truck, and I noticed on the Ford site that the Raptor should be used with "premium fuel only". Does that mean 89 or 93 octane, or is 87 fine? I can just about live with the low gas mileage on cheaper gas, but the expensive stuff just may hurt a little too much :/

I use 87 in the winter, 93 in the summer for racing season. I also have tunes for 87 econo and perf and 93 perf. They make the truck a lot better.

Nah, owners manual says it can run on 87 with no issues. You just get alittle more hp & trq with prem. I also get 1-2mpg better with 93oct.

I use to run only prem 93, but there's a pricing war or something going on with the local stations that has driven regular down to $3.30 per, but premium is still like $4.19.. not worth the price difference to me, so I've been running regular.

I think if premium octane is hitting ur wallet, I wouldnt do it at all

I always run premium, i assume performance issues with 87-89 octane. if the manual says the 6.2L is good to go with 87, then no worries.

That's good then... Thanks! Yeah, I know fuel price difference should be the least of my worries, its just another thing to consider I guess.
My whole "next truck" decision is a constant battle between heart and head, and whilst an tricked out 5.0 FX4 would be fine, I just think I would always regret not spending a little more on something I would love, even though it would be more of a stretch...

Its prety sad you guys can afford these $50,000 to $60,000 trucks but can't afford to put good gas in them. Hell I'm 17 in highschool and still run premium In my 03. And damn sure wouldn't put that watered down trash gas in my truck.

Please explain how 87oct from a good gas station is watered down trash gas?

Also, it's not a being able to afford it thing for me. It's that the stations around here are gouging prices on anything but regular 87oct, so the pricing on their signs look good to idiots going down the road.
