That's fine, but a half ton truck gets it's name from being able to carry...

...wait for it...

A half ton. That some newer trucks, some with options, can carry more than half ton and are still referred to as half ton is fine. But to say that a Raptor is kinda "light" for a half ton for only being able to carry...

....wait for it....

A half ton, it's a bit confusing. It's not light, it's spot on.

I understand that the Raptor was designed as a desert toy and not a hauler. It's a badazz truck for sure. It's just a lightweight when it comes to actually working

Sure. If you work hauling stuff, I would agree. If you work chasing drug dealers in the desert, then... not so much.

Why do I like the Raptor? It does everything most trucks do and then so much more everywhere else. Sure it doesn't tow as much or have a huge payload, but if you need that then just get the vehicle that can handle those requirements. You can't expect every truck to meet all of the extreme needs of everybody.

That being said, the tow rating and payload is pretty good considering the shocks and the trucks abilities.

The truck can handle as much load as you could put in it, it has the power to do so anyways. Just buy a set of helper airbags when you tow or haul something heavy to level up the truck. The truck can easily tow 10,000 lbs easily I'm sure, they rate it at 8,000 simply because of the soft suspension.

I love my 801a package. And the only option I didn't get was the hood and side decals with no regrets.
