Locking Gas Fill Plug
#13
It's crazy that the F150 does not have a latch release to access the gas tank, and worse, doesn’t even have a gas cap. When you think of this logically it makes no sense, the gas in the truck is the inner sanctum of the engine, the “holy of holy”, and leaving it open and exposed is hard to believe. People without garages park on pedestrian busy streets, and work requires parking in unsecured areas. I'm concerned about Halloween when it wouldn’t take much for those masked kids “in the mood for mischief” to drop a gumball in the tank, or worse… My wife just bought a 2017 Chevy Volt, and it not only has a locking latch release, it has a gas cap. On an electric car! Come on, for an extra $100 this can be solved. Is Ford going to cover the cost of contaminated gas for the life of the truck! I bet Ford would fix this problem if they were held liable for engine damage and personal loss of the vehicle caused by vandalism to the gas.

You need to use the capless funnel (under the rear seat) to put anything in the fuel tank.

Why do other Ford vehicles with capless fillers have locking fuel doors and the locking plug option?
Oh, that's right, the world has become safer and more friendly. My bad.
P.S. The funnel is not needed for a perp to siphon your tank.

A lot of thieves will drill a hole in the tank to steal your gas. Not much you can do to prevent that method.

Should you go back and ask for it? Well, if you need to put gas in with a gas can, you won't be able to without it. You can also buy one at Walmart.
