Well looks like I blew my motor. I was driving following a buddy let out of the throttle and thats when all hell broke loose. Check engine light start blinking like crazy and lost all power, so I pulled over to the side of the road and shut her down. I started it back up and was welcomed with a nice rattling sound in the bottom end and and LOTS of white smoke coming from the exhaust. Took it up to the shop that installed the procharger kit to see what happened. To start it all out they pulled the plugs and #1 was bent so they decided to scope it and found the head to be messed up, a hole in the piston and some gouging in the cylinder wall, but not sure how deep it is. So right now they are planning on pulling the motor to see the extent of the damage and go from there.

I've already been looking on the bright side and planning on going crazy with it. I figured livernois ported heads, 6.6 short block and custom cams should do nicely. Hopefully the block will be salvageable to save some money, but only time will tell now

holed piston sounds like it dropped a valve, that will give an engine a head ache. The head on that side is scrap metal.

I'm interested in hearing what went wrong too. Weak rods/pistons, bad tune, overboost, etc. Wanna find out what this engine can really do and what it's weak spots are when pushed harder than factory.

I've heard of this happening to a few other raptors on boost and i'm kind of thinking that it has something to do with the torque to yield head bolts. From everything i've found the head gaskets are MLS so its really doubtful they are the problem. Unfortunately most seem to pop the head gasket right near the cylinder and water jacket so the blown motor becomes almost a guarantee. I would recommend anybody looking to boost their raptor to get headstuds

Sucks that it had to be you! But you have done a huge service for everyone else and I'm sure the best will come out of it. Livernois is awesome. Anyone else boosting should absolutely get these headstuds and learn from others misfortunes.
