i couldnt give you the specifics as i havent done it yet, but you gotta take the coilover off and remove the spring. then you (somehow) move the ring to the middle or top notch. assemble in reverse order

Not a driveway mod or you could literally get killed or kill some else. you need to compress that coil spring. Bring it to a shop. You will also need to get the front end aligned. your truck will sit level on the middle setting and will not nose dive when you brake. drives 100% better. no parts, just a little labor. should not cost more than $250 with the front end alignment.

BTW...your signature line throws me off every time. That is the name I have gone my in life for 40+ years. Too funny. I almost have dropped my last name entirely.

With much respect to FLA... the perch mod is very doable in your driveway. Many have. Just gotta take your time, be careful and use the correct tools (which are easily rentable/borrowable from your local auto parts store). Shouldn't take more than 3 or 4 hours tops.

Here's a thread with a link to a good writeup. The only special tool you'll need is a spring compressor, and again you can probably borrow one from an auto parts store for free, or rent one for a small fee.

As for an alignment, some need it and some don't after making this mod. But either way, take it in and get it checked to be sure.

In that link, SDHQ is doing that in a fully equipped shop with a proper spring press, not in a driveway with a cheap claw spring compressor! I'm with FLA-SVT, unless you know what you're doing with the right tools, I wouldn't attempt this. These are big coils....cheap claw-type compressors could easily slip and this spring would do major damage/mayhem.
And yes, you'll need an alignment. Pre-load has changed and the truck's front end sits higher....camber and/or toe-in will be out of whack. Mine was out a few degrees in each and I just went to the middle perch.

Coil springs are nothing to mess with if you are only using a claw compressor. Click this link to see what one did to my ankle if you don't have a weak stomach!
