Am I crazy for Considering a Raptor?

After driving a 2010 5.4 Screw XLT, I was in the same boat as you...looking to upgrade.
After test driving a 6.2 Screw Raptor and a 3.5 Eco Screw Platinum, I chose the Platinum. Honestly I had no doubts about it. The raptor felt heavy, clunky, and less comfortable to all my senses. The Platinum road sweet, felt quicker, more comfortable in every way. Because I didn't plan on taking a 40K truck off road unless I have to, I went with the Platinum. NTM the Platinum fits in my garage and the Raptor would not have. Little things like that sometime make the difference.
My friends who don't know any better always tell me how I should have got the Raptor...I don't think so.

besides you could always get a 6.2 in a non-raptor truck. then, the power mods are the same.
the only difference would be, the raptor is heavier, meaning it's losing the $perHP ratio vs the f150.

so in other words, and to be polite about it...
you just wanted to try and thow this is some guy's face about your options?
personally dude, you asked for an opinion, and i gave you mine. just don't think i'm angry or annoyed. lmao.
*shrugs shoulders
none of it matters to me at all, i mean... who am i to you? right? lol.
i live out of my truck too, and i'd rather not have a raptor for work; simply because it looks more tempting to steal at a hotel parking lot. but that's just me.
and when i do haul, i need to haul. the raptor isn't any different than a 4x4 long travel suspension under a ranchero.
i prefer versatility vs a toy.

I also did want others opinions. I still may change my mind when the time comes who knows what tomorrow holds.

I don't know how someone could take offense to anything I said. I spent time putting together a lot of information and wanted to share it. I was surprised that the ownership cost of the raptor was so low, and wanted to share it. I am sure there are others out there in similar situation, and if not the raptor, there are other vehicles in the sheet.

first of all, you said that you need to replace your truck ever 4 years.
so, you're two years into your current contract on your current truck.
do the math and suck it up for another two years, then go get an atlas...
rather than waste company profits.
just one company owner's opinion.

0.9% is for suckers!
I think your avg mpg on the Raptor is a tad high. I've had both trucks and personally I like the Raptor better, but it has less payload and eats way more fuel. My highest mileage ever was 14, usually 9-10 mpg was what I got, driving the same way I drive my ecoboost when I get 16-17mpg.
If u can get the raptor for $42, get it.
My 2011 crew 6.2 I paid $48 plus TTL and got $48 when I traded it at 9800 miles.

The money I am going to have to spend on my truck to keep it happy will bring the payment of the raptor down to within $50 a month of what I am currently paying a month. So it doesn't make sense to be uncomfortable over $50/ month or $600 a year.

If a regular f150 will fit in 'whatever' garage, the Raptor will fit. The widest part of the Raptor is the mirrors and they are the same as any other f150 of the same year.
You can add better than stock suspension to your f150, but unless you also add the 7 extra inches of width, you will not get the same stability the Raptor offers, especially if you lift the truck when you add the suspension. There is a tendency to add larger tires when making suspension mods, doing so will put you in stock Raptor MPG range, regardless of which engine you choose.
Before I added my Geolandars, I was getting in excess of 15mpg on the highway. The new tires are over 20lbs heavier per corner and have a much more aggressive tread - the net-net is a drop of 3mpg's. I'll be getting some BFG's next go-round and keeping the aggressive treads for off road use only.
My advice would be to only make the move if you can truly afford it.
Obama definition of afford: I can pay the monthly note
Real definition of afford: I can pay all my bills, plus my 15-20% towards retirement, plus a bit of a savings cushion just in case, plus the excess fuel costs.
I daily my Raptor and it costs me about $700 per month in fuel. I don't care, I can afford it (real definition of afford) and it's what I want to drive. It's a want not a need, you should be honest with yourself about what you need / want.
If you want a Raptor and need more towing capacity, get a set of springs from National or Deaver - it's the weakest link from the factory anyway.

I posted this at another forum , but wanted to ask here also.
Currently I drive a 2011 F150 XLT Ecoboost. I have been looking for a more comfortable truck because I drive about 30k miles a year. I wasn't even considering a raptor due to their high initial cost and fuel mileage. But I stumbled upon a well equipped extended cab that the dealer is able to get it to the same as lariat. Downside is I give up the crew cab, but I can live with that.
I took it for a test drive and it rode very well, and was happy with how everything was set up. So i left the dealer told him I need to run the numbers.
I made a spreadsheet and found out the total cost of ownership of the raptor is actually better than an ecoboost lariat based on the high resale of the raptors.
Btw the raptor is the first vehicle to put a smile on my face in a while. Also I do drive on the beach quite a bit, and most of the miles are highway. I do need the bed for work so an suv or something similar won't suffice.
Trade in values are based on true car. The Jeep is on there because my Dad is debating between an overland and raptor.

Everyone is responding to you as a d!ck. I've been wondering the same thing myself as I have the KR and the resale isn't what I thought so was going to trade this in for a raptor. I appreciate those numbers you ran. How many years did you use before trade in on your chart? I trade every 3 years myself.
I am surprised no one commented on the dodge 1500 diesel being in there.
I don't know why all the responses where so negative.
Also for anyone wondering, yes I can afford a truck payment, I just don't like to make fiscally irresponsible decisions, but I do like to have fun. I also hate dumping money into vehicles, when I start having to spend 500+ to keep a vehicle in top condition, its time for it to go. I normally get rid of vehicles when they need tires.
