Default Advise on Raptor purchase needed!

Hey guys and gals, new here!
Just sold my 08 STX and am looking to get a SCrew Raptor. Being only 4? months away from the new Raptor coming out should I try to wait till then with the possibility of more previously owned hitting the market, and possibility of a lower price to buy?
I've read the pre-13' frame/bump stop problem is only a worry if you are really abusing the truck, any opinions/insight?

I have test drove only about 4 trucks, 2 drove really nicely IMO.
Another of the trucks driver door would thud over moderate road potholes.
The last one, both front doors would thud over potholes and it had a noticebly "floatier" suspension. I didnt check under the truck for scrapes (I went test driving before coming here to read).

If I buy from a non-Ford dealer can I still get an extended warranty through Ford? If so does any one know how much they cost?

Any thoughts or things I should look for in buying a truck would be appreciated!
Thanks Folks

1) when to buy:

yes, wait until a couple months after the new gen drops, gen 1 prices will take a decent hit but they will rebound after a bit. Gen 2's aren't SVT, Gen 2's aren't limited production, Gen 1 guys are wrecking them at an alarming rate, lol.

2) frame 'issue': there is no issue. some retard and 9 of his friends took nearly stock raptors on a sanctioned run and all tried to keep up with a highly modified Prerunner. They all bent their frames in the same spot because they were going entirely too fast, hit a 'kicker' and shoved the rear diff into the lackluster factory bump stop. NOT a frame issue. If you did the same thing with a 13 or 14 you'd still bend the frame because the truck isn't a trophy truck and whenever you shove two pieces of metal together, one of them typically bends.

3) thud: this could be the doors or it could be the lower coilover bolt being loose - VERY common issue. If it's the doors, I don't know what to tell you, never heard that problem before. The other is actually something that happens pretty regular if they aren't torqued properly.

4) what to look for: run your hands along the lower control arms, if you feel scratches (gouges) in the aluminum, it's been ridden hard. If they are nice and smooth and the undercarriage looks pretty clean, it's been relatively well taken care of. pretty easy to spot one that's been beat on.

I think you'll find more than a few Gen I Raptors being traded in for new Gen II's. Once the reviews come out we'll all find out just how much better the new model is (a little or a lot) which will dictate what kind of price hit the Gen I Raptor will take. If you're sold on a Gen I, now is not the time to buy one as the value is still quite high. Wait till the new one is out as there will be more inventory.

Unless there is something that you really don't like about the 2017's, wait.

also keep in mind there are loads of Raptors that are strictly Street Kings that don't see an ounce of off road. They are in excellent shape and just might be what you're looking for. Not hard to tell if a Raptor has been beaten up...
