Default 2017 raptor suspension

Saw a new video on the raptor. I guess ford finally got around to revealing some of the details other than its fox 3.0's. Pretty sweet little video.

A couple minor corrections from the link:

the new 3.0's aren't what gave it an extra inch of travel - not in the front anyway.

gen 1 and gen 2 Raptors are mid travel, not long travel.

it didn't say in the vid but I'd wager that the extra inch in front travel was gained by reducing mechanical bind (suspension components coming in contact with each other). The rear travel increase is nothing more than running a longer shock. the leaf pack will droop to about 18" if the shock would extend that far.

Hope they stiffened the frame, lots of bent ones out there. Granted, it was mostly due to stupid drivers.

The bent frames were 100% due to stupid drivers.

Supposedly, the Gen 2 Raptor has extra strengthening unique to that platform.

13" Front travel, 13.9" rear travel. they state "up to 2 inches more travel then gen 1" I think that has already been leaked. These trucks are going to be amazing in real world driving and offroading.

To me, the best thing about the Raptor is that it shows off what a good truck Ford actually builds, compared to Chevy, Ram, Toyota, and Nissan. I honestly was a Chevy guy, but the first gen Raptor got me interested in Fords and I switched over, probably for life.

Shoot! I've had a raptor itch since they unveiled the original one in 09 or whatever. I'm waiting till I hit my 2.5-3 year ownership marker on my platinum and then I'll try and order a new raptor. Kinda holding out also to see if ford adds another engine option to the raptor line up. If not I'll buy the 3.5 Eco-boost though.

Another reason for the increase in the front travel is that ford claims the new raptor sits a little higher in the front.
