sure but that doesn't change the fact that the 2017+ Raptor is not a limited production vehicle.

Just go down to your local dealer and go get one then.

One random ford rep spouts off over a year ago and everyone takes it as gospel.

If they aren't limited, why isn't ford building more? What constraints are there?

I had the mis-fortune today to visit a Ford dealer in the Vancouver BC area, I wont name the dealership but it rhymes with 'Browns Mothers'. After spending 5 minutes walking around their show room observing most of the sales staff huddled in one office, I eventually flagged down one of the salesmen, who without me asking for help I am sure would have walked past.
The reason for my visit to this dealership was that i noticed on their website they had two Raptors in stock, I am an interested customer and want to see one in the flesh, in more detail inside and out. Also sit down with a sales person and run through the figures.
Now before I continue, just imagine an Arrogant ***** of a salesman
Me: Do you have any Raptors in stock?
AP: Yes
Me: Great, can i have a look at one please?
AP: No
Me: Oh, are they all sold?
AP: Yes
Me: How many will you be getting in
AP: 30 or so, probably more
Me: Oh wow, are they all spoken for?
AP: Yes
Me: Just out of interest what price are you selling them for?
AP: Existing customers MSRP non customers $5000 more
Me: Why is that?
AP: We don't want people to profit from us
Me: ????????? - Oh, so there is no incentive for me to become a customer of yours at all, in fact why would i come back and buy any vehicle from you ever. I will have to go somewhere else then.
AP: Your welcome.

I am a pretty calm guy but this got my blood boiling.

Now I have nothing against businesses making more of a profit when demand is there, I also think it is good to look after your existing customers, but you have to treat potential customers with courtesy and respect, non of which i felt.
Surely a better way of dealing with someone is, 'At the moment we are able to sell them at a premium, if you don't want to pay a little more now I would wait till later in the year'

I shall be sharing my poor experience with all i meet, the only thing is the dealerships don't normally lose out by treating people poorly, there is always another mug.

I hope to be a Raptor owner in the future, I will be patient and am not pay more than the other guy.
(The dealership that I purchased my past 2 vehicles from is no longer)

Rant over.

Dealers are only getting a certain number of allocations. My (small) dealer only got 2 allocations.

I was number of 10 of 16 at my dealership which is one of the largest in the area by volume. Now I've been told that I am 10 of 10. Their allocation was reduced. Now this could be just another case of a dealership saying something and it being taken as gospel, but in this case I think not as I use to be an employee there. Limited Stock??

I don't see anything wrong with this

The fact that you're shopping around at a new dealer should illustrate what everyone does, when its time to buy another car, we typically find a dealer who has what we want vs sticking with a relationship

That dealership is just trying to reward its existing customers and hope that next time they will be the first call instead of shopping around

As for being a *****, I've seen that, too, it shouldn't happen but the dealerships are fielding LOTS of calls from people who want to kick the Raptor's tires half of which balk anything over MSRP so they are developing a bad habit of being short with people - that I don't agree with

As I mentioned, I too agree, looking after existing customers is good, that is how a lot of business is done. Most businesses however, cannot grow on existing customers alone, they have to develop other relationships. I am a very loyal consumer when looked after.
It does not matter how many calls you take or tire kickers you see in a day, you are in sales, this was your career choice, be respectful and courteous or it will kick you in the *****.
Once i am crossed and given bad service, I tell a lot of people in the hope they pass it on.
I was very shocked at his arrogance.

On a completely different note, Just had an amazing service experience with YETI

Okay. The dealer I work at has one in stock. One sold Monday. And they've sold 5 others. So that's 7 of them since the first one showed up the week after Christmas.
