Not a fan boy, just stating my opinion. It will never be a V8 but since when did V8s become the only engine that could sound aggressive and powerful? GTR, 911 Turbo S, M3/M4s all non V8 cars with some arguably wonderful exhaust notes. If you can't tell a 99 Camry with a chopped exhaust from a tuned Eco, you don't belong around cars.

Here is a good video with some tidbits on the differences between the f150 and Raptor versions of the eco. Seems like it is mainly Tuning, Manifolds and Turbo's that provide more HP and Torque for the Raptor. Same base engine.

My 2014 xlt gets 18 mpg in town driving w/ the 5.0. I didn't pay $1300 extra to get equal or less w/ the so called eco boost. If the eco boost is the greatest engine ever, why not make an eco boost 5.0 & make everyone happy? Don't get Ford making this change. And why no eco boost in any super duty ,if so great? I wish I could afford any 6.2 raptor, as I would get one. Ford has done a slick job on advertising the eco for uninformed drivers. I would never admit my eco boost was a mistake either,as so many do on this forum, after shelling out 1300 more.

I had a reg cab 2012 5.0 4x4 and loved the power it had. Mileage going to work which is 9 miles was ok. I was getting 16-17. I was not hard on the gas by any means either. 3.55 rear end. Loved the sound to. Now I have the raptor. Its only two weeks old, still feeling things out. I'm very much ok with the sound of the six. Was worried, lol. The mileage on the first tank was 15.6 if memory serves correct. The power is mis leading so far for me. I will get into it and be way over the speed limit in no time. Very smooth power. The 2012 was peppy yes. This truck has different gears and more weight, so I'm just figuring things out still. If ford does come out with a v8 raptor i will be looking.

I'll admit I regret the ecoboost in my 2016. I had a 2016 with a 5.0 for about 6 weeks and loved it. It just had so many other problems I couldn't deal with it so I got another 2016, except with the eco this time and this thing may be quicker off the line, but it's not faster and gets way worse gas mileage. I want my v8 back! I've got a 2016 lariat fx4 with 9000 miles on it, a brand new bds coilover 6" lift, new rims and tires, and many extras if someone wants to trade or buy it. Haha

Just a update, the lie-o-meter on the truck is stating 17.5 today. I'm happy with that, but feel it should get better with time. Truck has almost 700 miles on it with over inflated tires. Ford or the dealer set the pressure way to high. The door jamb says 36 cold. I'm at 47 and 50 warm. Will adjust tomorrow evening.
