How much money do you want to spend? There's a slew of intakes, heads, stroker kits, etc for the 4.6. I'd say supercharge it, probably the easiest and actually cheapest way to make a lot more power out of the 4.6.

Getting into the realm of swaps looking for power, if you have deep pockets, it's endless.

For the most power in a swap search around for a lightening swap. Most of the motors can be found for fairly cheap compared to other options to get to the same power level.

I would get a 5.0 or 5.4, try to find one at junkyard. Would think it would give you the fewest amount of problems.

Forced induction. Stroker kits in the mod motors are hardly worth the time or investment.

You build it yourself. Either use the stock manifolds with a y-pipe and run a remote mounted turbo, headers with y-pipe and remote mounted turbo or fab up some forward facing manifolds with a merge collector and an under-hood turbo. Getting it tuned is the 'hard' part.

Do a google search of sts turbo. They sell universal turbo kits, that can be mounted under the rear of the truck. Saving space under the hood. A few of my friends have these and they love them.
