The sound is noticeable at idle, but goes away once increase rpms.
If it qualifies under a TSB, then they are obligated and required to fix it if the symptoms fit, warranty or not. You need to talk to them about it, and/or see another dealer. It is not normal. Mine turned out to be a bad bore cylinder...oblong.

If it's anything like the sound mine was making, it is NOT normal...see another dealer. If it's making the noise when you're at the dealer show it to them, get them to hear it...then tell them to shut down cylinders one by one, listen to see if the noise goes away. That's how they did mine.

I've had this issue since new in 2011. 4 years later and over 200,000 HARD kilometres towing daily and never had an issue, check engine light, or even put a penny in the truck besides regular oil changes brakes and tires. The fact that they have no idea what this sound is boggles my mind but the truck has never once failed me so I just live with it. Id buy 10 of these trucks. I work construction, I Have a few 6.7 diesels and two 5.0L 150s and wouldn't trade them for any other brand. Stupid noise. Amazing trucks.

That was the first thing I tried. Switched to Shell synthetic. Same noise.

My truck has same issue started at around 1500 miles brought it in they said that all the trucks sound like that! Now at about 3500 miles it has got much louder and more consistant I brought to a different dealer and service adviser admited hereing it and was suprised then I got a call at end of the day saying we cant duplicate the noise? I pick it drive it home like 10 min away and its knocking real bad in my driveway ,I dont get it I have freinds and family with same truck same engine theres does not knock in any way even with many more miles on it than mine..... I was gonna get a new 2015 mustang but after this fiasco I will look at something else for sure I think ford needs to back there products not hide behind smoke and mirrors , plus here in sd they are pushing there cars like crazy with commercials on tv and the radio but when theres a problem with it nowbody gives a shi!!!
