Default 4.6 mileage.

Well I've gotten into an arguement with a chevy fan saying that 4.6s are junk after 130,000.. Everyone post their miles on a 4.6 that still is running strong!
Mine has 114,000.
How about everyone else?

Default Chevy vs Ford:

Oh, yeah, the Chevy man is right: Your 4.6L will probably be all worn out at 500K miles.
Tell your Chevy man to talk to New York City cab drivers who are trying to wear out 4.6L engines in Crown Vics, Merc Gran Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars employed in taxi service.
My '97 XLT has 128K on it; my '94 LTC has gone 170K so far. A friend has a 2000 LTC showing 413K that has never been opened up, just normal maintenance.

The 4.6L is regarded as one of most reliable engines out there. Here's a thread awhile back about it:

I just turned 107,000 and it runs just as strong as a new truck.

See! If the engine is took care of right then it will last for along time!
He said he has friends who had fords that had to have the engine replaced at 135,000 miles..I told him to tell his friends to take care of it next time!
My f150 has been pretty much everywhere...florida, georgia, tennessee, west virginia, virginia, north carolina..heck my f150 came from canada so thats something else. my 4.6 has only caused me 1 problem and that was where 1 of the spark-plugs backed out because the previous owner did not have it done right.

I am going through an engine replacement in my 1998 F150 as we speak. Truck has around 260k on it, long story short, it needed replaced when I bought the truck, but didnt know that until after I bought it. Might have put 30 miles on it since I bought it back in December 2010.

Got my hands on a replacement motor with only 86k on it, looking for it to last me a very long time

I believe the 4.6s are unbelievable in reliability..I trust mine to take me anywhere.

Default Truck miles

Have a beautiful '97 4.6, 2wd with 198,421 miles on it. The only part ever been changed is the water pump (isn't that strange?). I keep ahead of failures the best I can. Still get 18+ mpg on the road.
Can't beat that in my book. No intention of messing with it till it needs it.
