Default fuel switch/engine dies

Well I got 1 4 u guys,just bought a '94 4x4 150 351 here's the deal when u switch 2 rear tank gage go's 2 way past full like there's a short and the engine quits running like u turned the key off,i mean RIGHT NOW! , if the engine is not running and I turn on the key an switch tank 2 rear there is no noise of any kind an gas smells BAD like its been in there 4 alongggg time,any ideas how 2 check this out,runs just fine on front tank thanks

pull the tank, sounds like the pump is shot to me. plus the tank needs cleaned out.

don't u think it should run 4 just a bit when u switch tanks even if the pump is bad on the fuel n the line?

the pump pushes the fuel, no fuel pressure, no injection. it may sputter once or twice but it will die almost instantly.

OK guess I'll pull that tank,now if I had a simple way to drain the fuel,might try my okie credit card thanks
