Why would you lower a truck?

For me it makes perfect sense to drop the rear. Since I haul stuff that requires me to get in and out of the bed it's easier to climb into the bed with a drop and the ugly rake is eliminated too. 2 birds 1 stone.
I think he means you drag more of your body weight across the upholstery when the ground is farther away as you're getting out of the truck, and that wears down the fabric faster on the left side of the seat. It's a good point. Jeans help wear down the fabric faster too. The lower the truck the closer the seat is to the ground, which means the seat gets less wear and tear from your body weight dragging across the upholstery.

it happened in my old lifted Ranger. the left side of the drivers seat got a tear in it in the one area where it was obvious it was being caused by me exiting the truck. If that truck hadn't been lifted 8" that tear would've never happened.
