Many people do this. Depending on how much your leafs are worn in is how much it will drop it. I got Heavy Duty Springs on both my F-150's and one has about 31k and removing the leaf would drop it maybe 1/2 an inch compared to my 99k F150 where it would drop about 2 inches. Your payload will decrease greatly, I mean greatly.

If you're talking about the overload spring, you shouldn't notice much change in the ride other then it will ride a little smoother actually.

The overload spring doesn't decrease your payload that much. I haul stuff all the time and my overload spring has been out for years. I can haul my riding mower, trailer and have hauled floor tile from time to time.
