Default Noise after Ground Force 4/2 lowering kit installed

I had the Ground Force 4/2 lowering kit installed by a professional suspension tech a few weeks ago. I love it and have no problems with the slightly stiffer ride.

My problem is a knocking noise coming from the rear suspension. Before the install there was no noise but now with even a moderate bump I get the loose knocking noise coming from the rear. I have found that it is greatly decreased with a load in the bed but worst when the bed is empty.

Going to crawl under the vehicle this weekend to make sure all the shock bushings are in place and will check for anything loose but not sure if that will tell. I emailed Ground Force and got a quick and TERSE reply that there should be NO noise!

Any suggestions would be great!

Check all your rear shock mount bolts, shackle bolts, gas tank(in case they dropped it for install), U-bolts, spare tire. Might want to see how close your axle is to the new bumpstops too. The noise you hear might be the axle bottoming out, shouldn't be with only a 4" rear drop but it's possible if you are still running stock bumpstops.

I will check everything. They put new bumpstops that come with the kit. The sound seems to happen at the "top" of the suspension travel and not under load. I will pull and try to move everything, I will also hit parts with a rubber hammer to see if they are loose. Tank did needd to be dropped to get to bolts on one side.

Thanks for your reply.

check inside rear shock sleeve diameter vs bolts used. Sometimes ford has used smaller od bolts creates a clunk ive had a few customers with that.

Thanks Sir, I thank you for the information. I will be crawling under and checking everything this weekend. I will let everyone know how things turn out.

Found everything tight nothing I could detect to be loose. Spare and gas tank tight.

I had the Ground Force kit until last week when I uninstalled it, did you keep the factory rear shocks or did you use the ones that came with the kit?

Nevermind just noticed this is a 2 year old thread. @1blueblood it says he is from Florida not DFW. If you are looking for a drop shop in DFW I recommend Farm Truck Racing.
