Looking For Experienced People to comment. Please Don't tell me what your Friends brother said. I know you can add helper bags...I'm looking for Drop Leafs & Shackles Vs Flip Kits for towing around 3000 lb. Thank's Boyz

With just a straight flip you'll be on the bump stops - DJM is 6" I believe with factory shackles. If you go 5" with lift shackles you will find them pretty often without any type of load. I ended up at 4" with a flip and lift hangers - it's not bad for daily driving and some loads. I can carry my King Quad 750 in the bed and only hit the stops if the road is rough or if there's a sudden dip/pot hole. I can only speak for the DJM since that's what I'm using in the rear.

I've yet to pull a large trailer with it, but I have pulled a 16' utility with 3 atvs. If I had to guess I would say around 2500# or so and it pulled it fine other than having a noticeable rake - rake was about the same as having the atv loaded or maybe a little less.. I had always planned to use helpers from the beginning so I just went for the flip. Here's a pic of the King Quad in the bed which is a little over 700# with the tires.

Great Info Brother...& great pics.. Your right that Trailer you towed was the same as im talking about pulling so Good to Know!!!! The truck looks great to. What size Tires you running?
I know Several people running the flips & thats what i had on my Lightning... It was Slammed though and road Terrible so Im hoping to here from sombody thats also ran the leafs (Besides my boy Wes) hahahaha to get an idea of the difference's.

Think about this, if you do a flip kit your payload is now decreased to whatever the U-Bolts can handle. That's likely a pretty big cut!

Well I like the look of those..mine where 70's and looked like crap so I put 285/40's...I might go up to atleast a 50... I gotta be to carful with the 40's... Pain in the Azz...

Yeah Im hearing the drop leafs will atleast allow me to tow my landscape trailer and throw a few things in the bed without totally changing what leafs are For in the first place....

not true. ive never in almost 20 years had a u bolt break. ive towed and hauled stuff many times also my customers. tow rating stays the same. now on drop leafs they sag and ride suffers. you lose a lot of tow capacity also.

flip kit all the way wil, ride better also

I'm not saying you can't get some that aren't stronger but my comment about your payload now being determined by the strength of the U-Bolts is true. It's just physics when you flip them like that. Instead of the leafs pushing on the axle they are now pushing down on the U-Bolts.

When you flip them the axle and springs are literally trying to push away from each other when you load the truck down. Only thing holding them together is the U-Bolts.
