Default Pinion shims - Which direction?

Lowered my '14 in the rear with a flip kit, but I need to add shims. Is the thick end of the shims supposed to face the front or rear of the truck when installed?

I just called Belltech, and they said that the thick end of the shim should face the front. That makes more sense to me, but I am still not sure.
