XL Upgrades and Mods. Don't laugh.
First installment: Consoles for bench seats.
I had a 2003 Super Crew Lariat I traded for an Expedition and immediately was sorry I did. Both had the consoles and bucket seats. Then my little Colorado Super Crew had a console. I just traded it for this really clean 03 XL with low miles that I am really liking except for its lack of a few creature features... the most important being the console.
For the record, I got the Wolf Console - Contractor Bench Seat Console in black for less than $100 and quite frankly it is awesome. Too cool. The quality is fantastic (I was worried about that because of the price). I have the main lid compartment full of cd's, flashlight, pen, a plastic bottle of wet-ones, business cards, and a place to drop receipts. The front lid compartment holds 12 packs of smokes, a couple of lighters, and the CD remote. Two cup holders forward of that and a cradle in the center for the cellphone to rest while charging.
Highly recommended.

Second Installment: Catchall one piece carpeted mat for the rubber floor.
I like the rubber floor at clean up time, but all the rest of the time I like the carpet. Perfect fit, but held in place by the industrial velcro. Looks better than factory. Another thing that makes this work truck feel like it wants to be a Lariat someday. Nuff said.

Take a look at this site:
http://www.fordtrucksrock.com/ford-t...ray-p-417.html
Attachment is by using the middle seat belt and pulling it as tight as you possible can, then rolling the excess seatbelt and tucking it beneath. I have had mine for several months and it has not loosened or slid one bit. Everybody that sees it thinks it is factory. I'm still loving this most of all.

I too have the white 03 xl supercab with low miles, a former telephone service truck so why would I laugh at yours?
aside from that, I agree that the truck is rather spartan but that is my preference since it's less to break down as the truck ages.
Thanks for the link to the console, that is one of my few gripes about the rig's layout.
